thank you very much MoveAlong,those should do the trick,on the dvd cover i replaced the Definitve collection logo with the Laserdisc cover,well now that i am changing it again for the fullscreen version,now the LD cover doesnt work,but you have supplied what i need,the VHS cover will now replace the LD cover,i hope this makes sense,i will post some small pics when finished so you can see what i am doing,the new menu pic has already been modified.

no i dont have the tapes yet,but shortly after i get them i will get to work,i am currently capping something for the great Rikter at the moment.

OK guys hopefully by tuesday or wednesday of next week,i will have a brand NEW "Sealed" Star Wars "FACES" Trilogy P&S at my doorstep,if not MoveAlong i will need yours,or Hoichi can hook us up.

Ever so slightly off topic but along the lines of DJ's Faces VHS project, here is a sample of my 1994 ANH Digitally Remastered Fullscreen PAL VHS tape recorded to DVD from a crappy mono VHS player to my Liteon DVD recorder.

The recorder is a good one (check out Segaflips PAL releases) but I need to get a decent stereo player if I am to properly transfer all 34 of my VHS tapes.

Basically, from the sample, is it worth doing that or not bothering??

well Russs15 I say DO IT! I would love to watch some PAL tapes on my DVD player. From my preservationist point a view I would love to see all 34 tapes put onto DVD.

DJ - I got the 'faces' set nicely done once again, I will get them up to a.b.starwars when I can, right now I have ADM DL versions of Ep1,2,5,6 on my HD that I need to upload and then delete.

Is there any way to obtain these without the long downloads? Takes me like 5 days for one file (slow dsl). I'll send DVD's to whomever with return postage.

A lot of people have suddenly become VHS haters ever since the DVD came out, but if you have a good player it isn't quite so bad. Pretty good I'd say. I've transfered a lot of tapes to DVD with my DVD recorder, and when I play one of those most people don't even notice it came from VHS. When I tell them they're usually astonished by the quality. Everyone has created a horrible image in their mind about it, remembering only how bad it can be: tapes played a hundred times and played back on a player with dirty rotten heads.
I also did my own SW LD transfer for fun, with my DVD recorder, but that didn't turn out very well. Because I had examined a lot of those I readily noticd the excessive compression artifacts. So when you want to do a real good transfer, you definitely have to compress it with CCE, instead of letting your recorder do it on the fly. It does a better job with VHS than with LD, but CCE is just magical.

That's no moon. It's a LaserDisc.

just an update,there will not be a pan & scan set untill i figure out how to get by this damn macro crap,these are the ONLY retail tapes so far to give me trouble,i am capturing with the canopus ADVC-110,i know the 100 had a macro trick,but it does not work with mine.
