Actually, yes it does. I think that it was more a case of Lucas having people like Gary Kurtz to say "No George, that's a bad idea" when he came up with Ewoks and such, and to say "Yes, run with that cconcept" with dark things like Empire. As opposed to Rick McCallum, who simply goes "Brilliant, George!" everytime Lucas thinks out loud.
