Hi, Ive just finished a VHS - DVD encode of the Ewoks cartoon series on 3 dual layer DVDs in PAL format and would like some help doing a conversion to NTSC, im offering a free copy to someone who can assist me with this. Anyone savvy in converting PAL - NTSC or region problems? I tried reburning via DVD decrytper to remove region but no luck.

Ehm, do you still have the captured video files because it would be easier and better for the quality if you would just convert the raw files to NTSC. What programs did you use to encode the video and audio?
The region code is something different than PAL or NTSC so changing that won't turn something NTSC.

I did the capturing with Aver TV, then the DVD creation/encoding with Womble DVD creator, however the original files are long gone, they were taking up too much space and I thought I could work with the vobs. Can anyone here convert from DVD?

The video and audio have to be re-encoded. But if you convert the PAL video to NTSC it has to be resized the audio has to be slowed down (because the frame rate will change). Is it really necessary to convert to NTSC? I don't think it's worth the effort.

I'd love to see this released as an upgrade to the currently existing Ewoks DVDs circulating. PAL or NTSC, I'd grab it either way.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I put alot of effort into creating the DVD only to find out it doesnt play on some NTSC players, a little more effort would be rewarding for me to put up on NGs for peoples enjoyment.

My own ability to convert to NTSC is limited (I'd lose the menus)...

...but if all it is is sped-up, then it's easy enough for me to re-encode in Avidemux.

This may show my own stupidity, but what is missing from the ewoks dvd's currently released?

I don't blame you for being a completeist... I mean, I am with music... down to the last unused timp hit, but lol... just curious.

I actually have never watched the Ewoks cartoons... Is it nostalgia that really drives you or are they good? With Star Wars' track record for bad spin offs, I've been afraid to buy the set and watch them..

Is it not sad that in this time, we are more surprised by acts of love than acts of hate?

The official release consists of two made-for-home-video movies (at least I know the second one was definitely made for video). By this I mean they were haphazardly put together by editing together episodes of the series to be feature length (kinda like the Young Indy series official release). The second 'movie' suffers most because there is no story arc, it really seems like a bunch of episodes without credits in between. Because of this there are many episodes left unreleased.

IMHO, the Ewoks cartoons aren't the greatest, but they're not bad either. I like some of the stories, and I do find it moderately entertaining. For me there is also a nostalgia element. Anyway, I do suggest giving them a view at some point.

So, is this DVD now released?
I've already downloaded AVIs long ago, which are pretty much unviewable (low quality source + low quality encoding, uncomplete episodes, no credits...), and I'd really love to see, at last, a decent version of this show.

Thanks ;)

I am very interested in this project too!

I'd prefer an NTSC version, but I can live with PAL.
