davey, even if he can ship to the UK, do you have a VCR that can play NTSC? Huh, I wonder what that eleven minute promo is. I also wonder if my old VHS has it. I bought mine used from a video rental place. The box was chopped up so it could fit into the clam shell tape case and it has stickers from the store all over it. I wish I had access to it, but it is all packed away. Probably doesn't have the promo anyway, but I am still very curious to know what the promo stuff was.

nope, i don't even have a PAL VCR anymore....DVD all the way, but I still have one hell of a SW video collection!! but as long as I'm not bidding against anyone on these boards, if I win it then I'm sure someone will be able to cap it

I'd be happy to...since it was my big mouth that started this

This is a definite must-get for someone on the boards here, for the sake of preserving it. It won't be me as I'm unemployed, but maybe we should vote for someone to take the bidding duties? They have to promise to arrange a preservation for the rest of us, of course.

The only other Ewok featurette I know about is the totally amateur one that Warwick Davis and Eric Walker (who played Mace) did on their own during the making of the film. Don't expect that to show up anytime soon, though.

I'll keep an eye on it too.. I live in the US so shipping cost isn't too much of a problem

$15 might be my top. I have captured tapes to my computer before so it shouldn't be hard.

Incase I do bid, it's "BrachioInGen2"

That is just what they called one of the Ewok movies when they released it on VHS; rented it a few years ago.

^Be that as it may, they are interested in the featurette that is included on the VHS, not the film itself.

Ewok Adventure was its real name, the Caravan of Courage was another "A New Hope" thing being pulled, giving it a subtitle after the fact. But yes, we are all familiar with the made for TV Ewok films, its the featurette that is included with this particular VHS that has us all curious.

Wasn't "Caravan of Courage" the title used when it was released theatrically in Europe?

They were released theatrically in other countries.

And he's also correct about it being called "Caravan of Courage" overseas.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Yep, I saw this theatrically when I was a wee one. I was young enough to think, "Wow a new Star Wars movie that I didn't know about." I was even young enough to only feel mild disappointment after viewing it.

Man, they really rip you guys off overseas. Theatrically releasing a made for TV movie. I hope they don't pull that kind of crap anymore. It looks like that may have been the point where they changed the name to Caravan of Courage. I had never even heard that name until I saw the DVD on store shelves. Every VHS release and TV showing in America has been titled "The Ewok Adventure".

It's not intended as a ripoff. Tv movies were often shot with overseas markets in mind, as it's a good way to make the money back. (Ironically, the third proposed Ewok film was scrapped because they were getting too expensive to make!) It can be good or bad depending on the film in question. Gene Roddenberry did a tv movie pilot called "Spectre" in the 1970's that is supposed to be a lot more steamy and gory in it's European theatrical cut! The original Battlestar Galactica three-hour pilot was recut and shown in theaters. (In Sensurround!) In the wake of Bruce Lee mania, several Green Hornet episodes were recut into movies. The Man From UNCLE actually shot new footage to make some two-parters into movies. And wasn't "Das Boot" originally a miniseries for German televison?
The old SW fan club had "Caravan of Courage" posters for sale back in the day, so it wasn't a big secret or anything.

Can you imagine if they had theatrically released The Star Wars Holiday Special in Europe?

Yikes.

It is just that in America made for TV movies are not considered to be worth a whole lot. We often make fun of them. The idea of a made for TV movie being released in the cinema would be outragous in the states. Yeah, I remember BSG was released in Europe theatrically, I think but I could be wrong, that it actually hit theaters there before airing here. And I think the one you guys got was actually cut, whereas the one aired in the US was complete, but again I could be wrong in this one, I think I remember hearing that though.
