Get used to it because regardless of how VIII and IX turn out naysayers will just shit on TFA instead of talking about the new films and what they bring to the table. It’ll be a convenient excuse to shoo away any argument that VIII or IX are good films. We could talk about how deep the plot is, how well written the characters are or even Rian’s directing prowess but that doesn’t matter to these people apparently.

Well to be fair, at least TPM had fairly competent cinematography and the practical effects were decent. AotC didn’t make TPM look better in comparison, it just made itself look even shittier by failing all the only positive aspects from it’s predecessor.

Regardless of how you feel about TFA from what Rian has said about the film it is clear he is trying his damnedest to give us a good film. Plus JJ and Kasdan didn’t write VIII’s script so take solace in that at least.

That is impossible when you have a trilogy and you are forced to continue the crap established by previous instalment. TFA is currently sewers. EP8 may climb out of the sewers but the starting point will be sewers. If EP8 takes the effort to climb out the sewers, at least EP9 will have a decent starting point. Nevertheless, it will still smell.
