Yup, it does indeed appear they’re running one of these for each movie ahead of the release.

Maybe they’ll cover audio changes sometime in the future (if they ever fix the mistakes they made on the 'o4 editions…)

Cool.....they point out so many things I would naver have noticed (the officer rankings badges.....I never cared to start with and you might have too much time on your hands if you did...so many movies have little mastakes like this that no one needs to notice)

Hey look, a bear!

So many of the shots look better, but some look worse.

The point of this one was to...chop off some more of Threepio's head?

The '04 version is too dark now- I prefer the 1980 version.

Is removing most of the stars considered an improvement?

I know, I just don't get it?!? SOME of the "improvements" are actually improvements. But many look so much worse to me and they should've just left it alone. Who the heck did they get to do the work?!? It seems like they screwed up a lot more than they fixed...

It just looks like they messed with the brightness/black level to get rid of the garbage mattes, and lost much of the starfield in the process.

Probably old news to DVD owners, but I just noticed what they did to the hangar in Echo Base. In the old version, it was well-lit (if a little dim) and had good color rendering, like the type of place a person might work in for hours at a time. In the new version, it's almost monochromatically blue, like a bad imitation of Michael Mann's style. I guess the logic was, "Echo Base is cold, and blue is the color of cold, so let's make it blue!" I know the whole thing looks kind of blue; are they overcompensating for the old blue screen effects, or is that just a deliberate creative decision?

I also love the fact that they acknowledged "Moff Jerjerrod made a cameo" in the Executor hangar. Does this mean it's canon, now? Are they going to get an EU writer to do a trilogy with a comic book tie-in about how Moff Jerjerrod was aboard Executor to provide political control over Death Squadron's mission?

Also, am I the only guy who thinks the new Emperor isn't really looking at Vader in the profile shots?

I don't like that they used Jedi footage in ESB- it wasn't necessary and it just doesn't fit......and yes I noticed how many of the shots on Hoth were 'blue', there's quite a few scenes on dagobah that look blue as well.

I also don't care for the way they did the new Emperor scene- the makeup doesn't look right.

About shot 113 of the series:

It's a shot of Bespin where the wall has been opened up to show a view outside and even a moving elevator.

(When you look at it on the 2004 dvd; you go : "Wow, nice job".)

Our heroes then proceed to a door where Lando reveals Vader to them, who disarms Solo. Then Boba Fett shows up.
The shot ends with stormtroopers showing up behind Solo, Leia, et al.

Behind the stormtroopers you can see the previously opened-up wall to have reversed to it's previous O-OT status.

(Then you go : "WTF, what were they thinking - that we got five second memories or what...")

Yeah, I didn't notice that back in 1997, but one of my eagle-eye friends did. I assumed they would fix that for the DVD- but I guess not.

ESB is definitely the least offensive Special Edition (although it when up a notch after they changed teh Emperor in 2004).

War does not make one great.

I personally think that replacing the Emperor was one of the most needed changes.

Even Though Replacing the emperor in ESB-2004 does add a bit of well needed continuity, the emperor still doesnt look very much
like the ROTJ version. Plus they have changed some of the dialogue which was'nt needed and removes tension from the climax with
the Vader/Luke Fight at the end of the film.
Ive always liked that weird woman with the superimposed monkey eyes for some reason. Ha
Episode I, II and III ? Never Heard Of them! :-P

Agreed, but then again, it still begs the question: why?

I don't like the corridor changes... that was my biggest hate at the 97SE. But the Emperor change in the 2004 is worse (especially the new dialogue).

If Ian McD had just re-recorded the Clive Revill dialogue with no additions, fewer people would have cried foul. But instead Lucas over-exposes (as usual) and opens a massive continuity problem that WASN'T addressed in ROTS. Hence, it's just a stupid glitch that the O-OT doesn't have.

Interesting, for all the "fixes" they talk about, they ignore how much they screwed up the sabers, especially in this film. That saber shot while Luke hangs in the Wampa's cave tells you everything. Is the 2004 shot really an improvement?

But, I guess it's fitting that Vader's saber is now pink. Lucas and Hayden pussified the rest of the character in the PT. This was just the final log on the funeral pyre.
