It could just be because a new photoshoot with Mark couldn’t happen for some reason.

Yeah, because Mark speaks his mind. They don’t want him near the press.

It’s a darn good thing he doesn’t have one of those twitter things to bypass the publicity machine. 😛

And here’s a leaked photo of his true TROS apperance. 😉

Here’s their story for The Force Awakens about Captain Phasma. These pictures don’t typically tell much in ways of the story. They do tend to tell us subtle bits of the stories I’ve found though. Like an example this one of Phasma seems to be the rubble of Maz’s castle. There was another of Kylo without his mask and snowtrooppers. So I think there’s bits of truth within the pictures but it’s not absolute truth.

I think this new one shows Luke on location where the Jedi Temple burned. I think we’ll be getting more to the story.

“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

But he looked more like his Force Phantom self in the TLJ flashbacks than he does here. Unless he’s interacting or guiding Rey through visions similar to what she had involuntarily in TFA? The possible wrinkle here is everyone percieves Luke as they last saw him?

That’s what Mike Zeroh said apparently. I don’t buy anything he says but hey!

I think it’s more just a mock up. Even The Last Jedi photography had Phasma without her helmet on. We only saw her eye in the final film. I don’t think these things are meant to be taken literally but do feed into story context in subtle ways. If that makes sense?

Same here mate.

It’s pleasing to read that JJ reckons he’s moving TROS forward somewhat, from what TFA was - and from what he thought it should be at the time. How the story has evolved through this new generation, bearing the weight and learning from what has come before, and readying themselves for their own struggles and stories 😃

For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet - the Vanity Fair piece on TROS, with an interview with JJ Abrams:-

(some great looking images from the film and behind the scenes too)

Is this just another Jedi Temple vision though since R2 is still there

The picture might not exactly match any scene that is in the movie. At least parts of the picture is directly taken from TLJ’s Ahch-To shoot, and the hair and beard matches Luke’s Ahch-To look. If it was supposed to be a flashback he would have the shorter dark beard. So if it is the Jedi Temple fire around him then he might not be there physically, but possibly as a “ghost of Christmas past” type of thing. But if it’s a different fire in the “present” then he could be there as a force ghost.

I would think they at least had the foresight to shoot “clean” background plates during TFA just in case they revisited this later.

I think you mean TLJ? Actually that’s interesting to consider. Back when Trevorrow was on IX he had Rian Johnson shoot a scene for IX while filming TLJ because it logistically made sense to do so. Never thought about it but definitely could have been an additional part of that flashback. Obviously no way to know at this point if that scene (whatever it actually is) will be used in JJ’s IX.

Didn’t we see first see the burning Jedi temple in Rey’s vision in TFA?

Reminds me how they wanted to shoot all the Dagobah scenes for ROTJ during production on Empire, but ran out of time. Lucas shot two scenes for ROTS while making AOTC, but neither got used.

No, just a brief shot of Luke kneeling and putting his hand on R2.

Two? I was only aware of the Tatooine one.

Someone made a post about it back in February. I didn’t know it existed before either…

I am a bit worried from the little I have seen so far from articles on imdb. Daisy Ridley just said she was excited because the lightsabers are “lighter” like they are swinging light around instead of heavy swords. So they are going prequel on us again. In Empire, Luke had a lot of trouble dealing with his light saber when fighting Darth Vader and that made it much more tense. When he cut off Vader’s hand in Return he was swinging it hard like a heavy bat. It brought emotion into the scene. Also, John Boyega hinted that 9 sucks. I liked VII a lot, VIII some, and I expect IX will be in between.

When has the IMDB been a reliable source on anything? And a lighter prop does not automatically mean prequel style combat. At the end of the day, it’s a flashlight with a stick coming out of it. If all prop weapons in movies had realistic weight, actors would be dead from exhaustion by lunchtime.

That’s really reaching. Even more so than the “Mark Hamill Hates TLJ” bullshit.

It’s hard to tell who the Sith troopers are taking orders from. It seems to make sense that they would be following Palpatine’s orders, but the marketing has shown them with Kylo Ren. This is also confusing because we know that Ben is not a Sith Lord, and he also wants to put the Sith in the past too.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

I remember Ben not being a Sith but I don’t remember anything that explicitly said the Sith were extinct. Maybe it’s a case of Ben wanting to use the name “Sith” to bring a Return of the Sith.

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.
