I think we can all agree that the OT is universally loved by those here to varying degrees ( this site is called Original Trilogy after all )

I don’t know how a person can be considered any kind of Original Trilogy fan if that person outright hates the concluding chapter and consequently finds the trilogy as a whole to be a flop, but whatever.

I didn’t hate ROTJ when I created an account here; it’s a sentiment I came to gradually, and it solidified only in the last three years or so. Regardless, this isn’t an “OT fans only” site. There are — or at least have been — other “OD” fans like myself, and at least one SW '77 purist.

Some would grumble if Luke had said Palpatine, since that name was never spoken in the OT.
He could have said “the Emperor” ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I keep hearing the same RUMOR about Hayden . Where is it officially stated that he is coming back ?
I keep hearing JJ is going to tie the three trilogies together. That scares me. Im still irritated about the Darth Sidious reference in Last Jedi.

So you actually think oot is a flop?
Aside from Luke’s characterization and the production values, I hate everything about ROTJ. I hate the second Death Star; I hate Jabba’s palace being on Tatooine; I hate the nonsensical rescue plan Luke & co. hatch for rescuing Han; I hate the “Leia Skywalker” retcon; I hate the Ewoks; I hate Palpatine’s depiction; I hate the notion that if Luke were to give in to the dark side, he would abandon all his ideals & morals and instantly join Palpatine; and I hate the notion that a mass murderer could go to Jedi Heaven just by loving his own flesh & blood really, really hard.
SW & TESB remain great movies, but ROTJ is rotten to the core. It fails as a satisfactory conclusion, and as such the OOT fails as a whole.

Given that TLJ builds on the prequel trilogy, in details as well as themes, I think it’s reasonable for Ep9 to appropriately tie into the PT and OT to attempt to conclude the entire story. I don’t see a problem with Anakin appearing.
Even if you want to ignore the PT and SE, it’s not like Sebastian Shaw is available. Perhaps they can depict Anakin as being a youthful middle-aged, about how old Hayden is now. In my book, I’d suggest making him appear vaguely elderly, but not necessarily a Shaw lookalike. To look timeless, in keeping with his ghost in ROTJ somewhat, just like how Ben and Yoda didn’t appear youthful.
I still think it’s profoundly dumb to insert him into a 1983 film the way they did, and would always prefer the original regardless; a new movie with Hayden reprising his role wouldn’t change that. What if McGregor appeared as a force ghost? Would you resent that, too?

Having Hayden Christensen appear in IX is my single biggest fear for the film.
If that were to happen I’d have to write off the entire ST and I’d rather not do that. =/
If JJ legitimizes the Special Editions, I don’t know what I will do. I’m sick of the idiot PT and Clone Wars fans.
Let’s be more civil. Just because you don’t like the Prequel stuff doesn’t make the people that do like them idiots. We’re all in the same fandom, whether you like it or not.
And when has JJ ever expressed fondness for the SE’s?
Putting Hayden Christensen in IX would legitimatize the SE’s.
I’m just so sick of Ahsoka Tano. Anyone who calls Rey a Mary Sue needs to take a hard look at Ahsoka.
Oh I’m sick to death of Ahsoka. She’s really overrated. It made sense for her to survive to Rebels, but when she survived both that duel with Vader and the entirety of the OT, a lot of people, including myself, called it out as Filoni refusing to let go of his baby. She should’ve died on Malachor. End of story.
In terms of the Hayden ghost, I really can’t see Abrams unironically including anything from the Prequels in his film, which saddens me.

They called themselves that at the end of TLJ IIRC…which was one of the few things I didn’t like about the movie btw.
I interpreted it as “the Rebellion is reborn as the Resistance”.

I heard that was an offhand comment from someone working with him, and not totally reliable.
