My preferred Episode 9 would be Chewie dying with the Falcon, Finn dying, Hux trying to overthrow Kylo, Luke haunting Kylo, and I have no idea what they should do with Rey.

Overall, I’m not super excited since TLJ tied up so many plot threads.

The thing is, it seems like Rey’s arc is over to me. She seems to be in the same place Luke was at the end of ROTJ.

I agree and their were a few moments where hux looked like he just wanted to kill him.

How do you think they’re going to deal with Leia
I think they’ll put into the crawl intro something like she died or that she’s on a separate mission or they’ll use cgi to show her death

But she has no one to train her

The guy who works at the comic shop I go to has a theory that the shifting release date has more to do with the Frozen sequel than anything else. I haven’t looked into it myself yet, but that sounds plausible to me.

Yeah and because they seem to making more spin-off movies like incredible 2 and other popular movies shifting times may well be a problem for IX.

This is why I’m hopeful for 9, since Rian turned ROTJ into the end of the middle chapter of the saga, complete with a philosophical quandary. How can a person become a Jedi and return hope to the galaxy while also knowing that the Jedi as a religious institution must end? Either she becomes a Jedi and goes against Luke’s wishes (and perhaps dooms the galaxy in the process), or she goes her own way and fails to inspire hope (for the galaxy is still in love with the Jedi).

As long as this trilogy continues to be a meta-commentary on Star Wars fandom itself, I’ll be satisfied.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

I agree but rey has no way to learn the force apart from with kylo (he doesn’t know enough himself) because leia’s gone and luke is aswell.

She does have that set of Encyclopedia Jedi that found their way into a bin on the Falcon. 😉

So, are they just going to completely gloss over the other students at Luke’s academy? Apparently like most of them died and a handful became Knights of Ren, which seems like something too big to simply ignore. I mean these are apparently the only other trained Force users anywhere. Where the hell are they???

I enjoyed TLJ the first time on its own merits, but I enjoyed it even more the second time after reading the complaints about it.

I enjoyed it much less the second time I saw it, I’m ashamed to say. Best since Empire it is not, as I first proclaimed. Maybe along the lines of The Phantom Menace for me.

EDIT: Unlike many of you probably I actually like TPM as a Star Wars film. To me I always liked it much more than the atrocities that were II and III.

Anyway, predictions:

Whether Kylo Ren is going to be conflicted, or just a strong villain now, will let us be known to us within the first 20 minutes of the movie. They won’t tease a redemption if he’s not gonna be redeemed.

If Kylo Ren is not redeemed, it will end in a climactic duel where Rey beats him (again) and this time kills him.

If he’s not, he and Rey continue their relationship they started in TLJ. It progresses even further to the point where they are the only ones who understand each other and need to be with each other all the time.

Also:
Hux turns against Kylo Ren.

Knights of Ren make an appearance.

A few throwaway lines explain WHO THE HECK THIS SNOKE GUY WAS. Put in there to pacify annoyed fans like me 😃

Kylo Ren dies/turns
Maybe a civil war or split between the first order

I don’t see the saga ending forever, so my bet goes with this trilogy ending in a low point, just as the PT was, and setting the ground for X, XI and XII to be the happy trilogy where evil is destroyed again.

Rey and Kylo rule the galaxy together, somehow.

Author
Time

Ooh, evil Rey and Kylo. I’d kinda like to see that. :p

Author
Time

It needs something different than redemption or straight evil. I would like to see her join the First Order, but since she’s mostly family with both Luke and Leia, I doubt she’ll go bad.

I think Rey will fight to not kill Kylo, as force ghost Luke tells her she must kill him, in order to save the galaxy.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Kylo will become a sort of God King ruling over the galaxy who forcibly recruits and trains a vast number of Force Sensitive pupils to become the new Knights of Ren, and creates a new Senate to keep the peace. Rey must then defeat Kylo by turning these students against their teacher, where they oust him from power. The students are reunited with their families from across the galaxy where they become local guardians of peace and justice, while the new Senate becomes a democratic institution freed the influence of Sith tyrants or corrupt Jedi Orders.

Rey, following her dreams, becomes the lead chef of a popular galactic cooking show.
Finn writes a tell-all book about his time in the First Order, and is the principal of a school for deprogramming First Order soldiers.
Rose becomes a hard-hitting anti-corruption journalist and avid antique dealer.
Kylo and Hux run rival demolition and scrap metal companies which are both eventually bought out by Watto Inc.
Poe becomes a Holovid personality and talk show host as an expert on human-cyborg relations.
R2-D2 and C-3PO run a highly experimental and dangerous space-time travel agency which is shut down after Leia Organa disappears while visiting Alderaan circa 50 BBY.
BB-8 becomes a movie star and after a hundred years of fabulous stardom becomes president of the galaxy.

Maybe Snoke sent them on an important errand. If there’s a lost Jedi temple, there must be a lost Sith temple somewhere?

Isn’t that on Malachor as seen in Rebels?

Haven’t kept up with Rebels. If these guys aren’t dead and they’re not hanging around with the FO, they must be up to something somewhere.

They’re overseeing the construction of the new Systemkiller Base.

Master of the Knights of Ren could mean Snoke had Kylo kill them all as part of his training.

Maybe their positioned in different parts of the galaxy to try and spread the strength in every part of the first orders territory.
