lol, that would be pretty funny. But I think I shall prove you wrong in the morning...
Thus saith she!
Um... Cool. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm not sold on the Ducreux. I'd kind of rather R2 just have the meme subtitles.

there's a lot of crackling on the sound channels
Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on with that. The audio mixer in Vegas shows some clipping, which I assume is what is causing the crackling, but I didn't change any volume levels from the source audio. I remember it happening on at least one other clip I worked on as well. Anyone run into this before?

I love the Ducreux but I'm wondering if I should give it to a less iconic character. Ducreux is pretty obscure and isn't always the easiest thing to understand, so it might be best to just use it once or twice rather than throughout the trilogy. I don't know, maybe for Poggle the Lesser on Geonosis?
I like that idea. Decreux is hard to understand, and I've never seen one outside of your posts, so I'm not sure a lot of people would get it.TV's Frink said:

Maybe R2 should not only speak in meme or something, but only in l33t sp34k, have the numbers replace the letters, makes it look more robotic?
I hate leet speak, so...no. If I take away the Ducreux from R2 I'm just going to replace it with the meme language straight up (which, by the way, is what I originally had in there before I tried Ducreux).

I don't remember if I ever gave the source for Ducreux...

Look at it this way - you are arguing that Ducreux is not easy to understand (which I agree with, otherwise I wouldn't have asked for help in writing it). Leet speak isn't easy to understand either if you aren't familiar with it.
Yeah, makes sense. No worries.TV's Frink said:

One little comment:
I enjoy the ridiculous moments much more than the "normal" ones. Take the "Are you a- person?/I can fix anything- Oops!" scene. I laugh everytime and it seems to be quite enjoyable to anyone I've shown... until he starts talking about angels. I'm watching this because it's funny and ridiculous... not to see the actual movie.
IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!
"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005
"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM
"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.
I agree with Mr. Jones. Is there any way to cut out most of the plot but still have it make sense, or as much sense as it could? Maybe have them leave right after the "oops", i mean, the flirting is painful and was always kind of creepy.xhonzi said:

Well, I see what you guys mean, and I'm not done with the Ani meets Padme clip at this point anyway. The angel line was the point I stopped working on it, to be honest.
Ask anyone who has done a TPM edit - it's hard to cut a lot of plot and still have it make any sense. I like little moments not making sense but I still want it to be a movie in some way.
And I have to keep the "are you an angel" line because it's going to be a running gag. And at the end of their conversation, when Ani yells "hey" to Jar-Jar and then "hit the nose," he's now going to say "hey....are you an angel?"
I will probably cut or change the bit about the angels being so beautiful, however.

they could be especially dangerous...
^Not bad. I'll see if it fits.
I'm not sure if you've seen Thumb Wars, its... OK, to be nice. Anyway, my favorite part is they land on the Death Star, Obi-wan and Vader fight, Obi-wan dies, and Leia just runs up and says "I escaped somehow. Let's go." Cutting out most of the first movie, but still funny.TV's Frink said:

I have not seen Thumb Wars although I always meant to. That kind of gag would be fine with me, but we'll see.

I like where ur edit is going it could be the only way i can stand to watch TPM now :)
You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.
So...
Any thoughts on how to handle Jar Jar? One thought I had was to leave his dialogue alone, but add subtitles that somewhat restate what he said but in proper english, then add a little twist to the meaning. For instance:
JAR JAR (spoken): Mooie Mooie, I love you.
JAR JAR (subtitle): Hello handsome human, I desire a romantic relationship with you.
Another thought is to just mix up his lines like I'm doing with the other spoken word characters. Or maybe a combo of the two?
The one thing I don't want to do is replace his dialogue completely (no alt-language track, no reversed english track, no dialogue from another movie).

When asked how they can be sure about Tatooine the Wookieepedia page could appear on screen.
Throughout out the scene there could be a series of life meters Droids, Hyperdrive, Shields which go down in time with the on screen announcements.
I'm not sure if the dubbing is working it might be better to do an entirely different dub track (including the original dialogue) all of which is to some extent out of sink with the lips (so it looks like a film not filmed in English that is dubbed).
The audience might find it easier to cope with the whole thing being out of whack than just key lines.

That would be funny!
