I plan to attempt ripping the DVD files needed for Emmet Otter, and am taking any final suggestions on a ripping program that will successfully bypass any and all copy protection. I have a few versions of DVD Decrypter that I'm going to try. Seriously, though, I've honestly never tried this before, and need these files to be Premiere-compatible. Once I've figured all that out, the editing will be quick and cake.

What.Cobbler? - Has there been any update to your work on this? I damn near choked when I saw someone was working on my family's favorite Christmas special.
I had no idea that they cut all those scenes out for the Emmet Otter DVD. I have the Nick version from '98 (SP). I also recorded it from HBO in '84 or so (probably SLP), but that tape is long gone. I'm so glad I held onto my Nick version and didn't buy the DVD!
I'd love to have the first John Denver/Muppets Christmas special too. I haven't seen that since it first aired (in '79 or '80?)

If you mean the JD & the Muppets "A Christmas Together" I have a transfer from a friend's VHS to DVD.
I would love to get my hands on the original, previously mentioned, near-complete Muppet Family Christmas on DVD if someone here has access to it.
I'd love to get my hands on three: Emmet Otter, John Denver (I haven't seen this since it originally aired), AND a restored Muppet Christmas Carol...but I fear the restoration projects have kinda died out. I hope they haven't, but there hasn't been much activity as of late.
Actually, now that I've dug a little further, I see that Muppet Family Christmas and Emmet Otter is in the process of being fan-edited...hopefully this might be done before the holidays (though I can fully understand if it can't )...now I'm hoping for the Muppet Christmas Carol, and just need to locate the John Denver one somewhere. I miss Demonoid!
The Muppets really are plagued by editing nightmares. I was sitting through the original Muppet Movie last night when I realized there were bits missing.
IMDB explains that there was a 97 minute extended version... I'm not sure where I would have seen it (maybe TV), but I remember some of the parts they describe.
Anyone have those scenes and want to take a swing at a reconstructed extended edition?
If you guys are doing Muppet preservation projects, don't forget "The Muppets At Disney World", which was apparently never released on DVD. It's quite an amusing special, but I am unsure of where you could get a copy. If I recall, this was the last thing Jim Henson worked on before his death.

I sent my VHS copy of the Muppet Family Christmas, from the original broadcast, to Cassius76. I don't know what he's done with it.
Unfortunately, Demonoid went down, so the version I posted there (AVI) is no longer accessible (and as Doc M notes, it was not the world's best transfer anyway).
Anyway to get the John Denver uploaded? One of my favorite albums.

Were you watching the DVD version? I have the original VHS version, and it is complete (at least, the way I saw it in the theater in 1979). I have not seen the DVD yet.
There's a common misconception that the restaurant scene with Rowlf and Kermit was edited, but there's actually a scene with alternate dialog on the soundtrack LP, and a lot of people remember that and mistakenly think that the bits that are on the LP were edited out of the movie.
I was watching the DVD (U.S. version), and I certainly don't own the LP of the Muppet Movie. I just remembered more to Rolf's song. Some of the other extended bits described on IMDB also sound quite familiar.
I suspect that they might have been inserted to TV airings. Either way I'd still like to see an extended version.
I just saw a DVD of Emmet Otter at the store, and it says "never before seen footage" on the cover, and there's a "lost song" listed on the back, along with some making-of material.
Does this version also have the Kermit parts edited out?

My VHS copy of The Muppet Movie is listed as "96 minutes", FWIW. With Disney in charge of everything now, I put nothing past them and I'm hanging on to my old VHS copies of everything.
On a related note, has anyone preserved "The Muppets Go Hollywood" TV special from 1979? I was watching it recently on YouTube, and I had forgotten how many big stars were in that- Christopher Reeve, Rita Moreno, Dick Van Dyke, Peter Falk, Cheryl Ladd, etc., etc. It's incredible.
Ok..i tried to work out a deal with this guy early in the year, but no luck. His site is at: http://www.angelfire.com/mt/muppetdanny/trade2.htm
Here is some of what he listed on his site: Emmett Otter’s Jug-band Christmas - Extented version with the Original 1977 version, Outtakes (that didn't make it onto the HiT! didn't release) and DVD-ROM content : the original book
The Muppet Movie ('Super8' version) Excellent contains significant number of shots and alternative aduio tracks that didn't make it into the final movie
Muppet Movie - 2 - disc widescreen extented editon With deleted footage not seen in US () re-installed + special features
He has the Muppets go to hollywood, the john dever special, and a muppet family xmas cut and uncut.
