I always got a strong Piett feel from him, but he's pretty consistantly drawn as a slightly plump, white haired, white mustached fellow:

In any case, this Edward Fox seems to be a decent match.

Ever see "Shaka Zulu?" Fox is this upper crust British officer dealing with the sociopathic military genius Shaka. He'd be awesome!

(Although yeah, if we could cast the Piett actor, he'd be great too).

The real challenge is to provide a fantasy cast for an entire movie adaptation of your favorite EU series.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Christopher Walken as BAO-DUR (the voice is already a Walken impression)

Fine ass Helen Mirren as KREIA (gotta sex it up a bit for Hollywood)

With some makeup and CGI, those creepy eyes and voice of Ben Cross would make a chilling DARTH SCION.

And of course only one actor could pull of complex THE JEDI EXILE...

Matt Berry.

Like my recommendation for Neal McDonough, I have to recommend Michael Biehn for: Anything.  He just wasn't in enough...  But if I were casting, I would put him in almost anything.

Don't know what specific role he'd play, but I think he's got that Star Wars look that he would fit in well enough.  Almost shares a ressemblance to Mark Hamill, so if you needed someone to play an elder member of the Skywalker clan...

If the prequels would have been made in 1986-1992, he would have made a great Anikan.

Probably.  I'll need to go watch the Abyss again, because I currently just have Hicks in my head.

How about Fey'lya?

Perhaps one Tim Curry?

You're right. I don't know what it is, but both those dudes kinda scream "Star Wars."

If they were a bit younger I'd say Kyle Katarn (Biehn) and Corran Horne (McDounough).

George Lucas can play both Greedo and Jabba the Hutt.

I'm sure someone has the necessary photophop skills, lol.

As for ben cross he can play either Hermann Munster in a remake of the munsters or Lurch in a remake of the Addams Family.

Daala?

What this thread has helped me realize is how much of the EU I really don't like.  On average, I feel like I'm an EU advocate here.  I never pretend it's more than it is and I've read less that 25% of what's out there now... but I'm glad it exists and I'm a pretty big fan of the Thrawn Trilogy, of certain ideas in Dark Empire, less of Dark Empire II and a good portion of the Tales of the Jedi line.  I'm currently reading Bane stuff now and that seems to be pretty decent.

The rest can go hang, I guess.  Even the stuff I find somewhat tolerable, the "new" characters seem to be the weakest part of it.  As in the Jedi Academy trilogy- I totally think Luke would start an Academy or something to try to recreate the Jedi order... so that part I can dig... and I think, inevitably, since he is a new master and making it all up from scratch that he would have several students "wash out" at best and "turn to the dark side" at worst, so I can dig that too...  But... Kyp and Daala.... I haven't read the books since they came out, but I have no fond memories of these characters.

So, in a way, this thread has asked me: What EU Characters are good enough that they deserve my effort in trying to come up with an actor to portray them.  And I think my list is mostly over aver 4 or 5 attempts.

Oooh!  I just remembered one more:  Cade's mom in Legacy.  She hasn't had a lot of... er.... page time... but she seems to be a pretty interesting character.  I'll have to dedicate some of that precious time to finding her a matching thespian.

Kevin McKid is another dude who could be loads of characters. He's got such a great look for a "Star Wars" type movie.

I really liked the Jedi Knight series.

Jerec

should be played by an early nineties

or by Michael Ironside

Oh shoot, I found my Prince Xizor

Jason Isaacs

I think he has pretty much built a reputation for being "The Nasty Guy" in all of his movies. I always want to jump into the TV and kill him.

Dennis Quaid

Not the greatest picture, but Dennis Quaid's performance in Pandorum really impressed me.  I think he shares that "Corellian" quality with Harrison Ford.  Whatever that is.

And a part of me would like to see Mark Hamill involved with any future Star Wars movie projects.  Even if (maybe even 'especially if') he's not playing old Luke Skywalker.  I think it would be a nice connection.
