Dvd cropping

This might be interesting. After reading some topics on the aspect ratio issue of the Goldeneye UE dvd, I did some research by analyzing the original and it left some strange mysteries behind to assume that the original movie transfer was also cropped. I will post some screenscaps to confirm this.

During severals scenes at the casino there is a substational amount of image cut either at the down and left side as you can see compared to the theatrical trailer.

Also, notice shot of Natalya jumping under the stairs shows much more picture information on the original trailer.

During a shot of Boris computer the upper and down side of the image are missing frames.

So I hope someone will find the original print of the movie, clean it up and transfer it to blu ray.

Really wish that there could be a nice transfer of 35mm print of Goldeneye, but seems somewhat cost-prohibitive. I remember though there was some talk about overlaying the UE HDTV master to the heavily DNR'ed but uncropped BD.

Might wanna put the title "Goldeneye" in your thread title by the way.

If you compare trailers to their released counterparts, everything is cropped differently! Trailers may even have different or longer takes.

Hi, sorry for the late reply but as aluminium falcon said, a 35mm print of Goldeneye exists. The blu ray version of Goldeneye is the only version that is correctly framed. During the scene where Bond uses the binoculars when looking at Onatopp the word transmitting in now shown instead of ansmitting that was on the previous editions of the dvd.
