I extracted the audio tracks from the NTSC CE DVD. As mentioned on IMDB the English mono track uses the front left and right channels from the 5.1 track. There is no dedicated English mono track.

Well, we'll have to wait for the MGM BD, and see if they have the original mono.
I've been listening to the Laserdisc mono that Lil Brutto ripped and it sounds allot better then the "Lossless" BD mono!
For whatever reason, the BD mono sounds likes a tin can in comparison.
Well, the LD mono is very problematic as the film was cut, the musical cues were wrong and some lines were missing.
I knew about the missing lines, though I was unaware of the missing audio cues in the Laserdisc.
I was under the impression that the DVD 5.1 was the only mix that had such issues?
EDIT: Also, just for clarification sake, the Laserdisc in questions is below.

Yes, there definitely is an issue with the musical cues on the laserdisc.
Interesting.
Thanks for the info :)
I now have the equipment to capture the cut LD audio that has the line, "What about me?"
Is there still interest?
Definitely!
That is the only thing I need to make for a V2.
Just sent you a PM with a link.
Got it.
V1.5 is ready.
The change to the last line is a lot less jarring, but still noticeable, because of the hiss that accompanies the LD audio.
However, being the original mix with the original sound effect, it merges better with the file as a whole.
It should be noted that the new BD from MGM doesn't have the original mono, even in lossy AC3. The reviews are yet to be out, even though the disc itself has been released a few days ago, which is not a good sign.
Go figure. It would have been the same fake mono as the DVD anyway. Sicne their 35mm restored print is similarly incorrect I wouldn't expect MGM to do anything differently.
I've yet to even order a copy until the reviews start coming in. There should be no reason for this disc to look bad as that 35mm print is gorgeous and perfect in nearly every way.

Also, the 5.1 sound on MGM is censored (f-words omitted), whereas the Italian BluRay English audio is uncensored.

I was able to get a less jarring effect by using the entirety of the Laserdisc mono, starting with the "Johnny!" line, up to the "what about me" line. The old laserdisc's hissing sounds acceptable for this period of time, due to an explosion having just gone off.
I'm also currently trying to get rid of some of the audio distortion present in the Itailian Eng Mono, mostly in music oriented scenes. Maybe I'll post my work when I'm done. Depends on how it turns out in the end.
is this dead?
Hi. Just checking, can anybody out there point me to the audio? PMs are fine, obviously.
Thank you!
