I AGREE. THE DBZ MANGA KICKS TOTAL ASS. ALSO, IT'S AMAZING HOW MUCH GETS LEFT OUT OF THE U.S. VERSION OF THE ANIME.

Just made a small correction there since there is no Dragon Ball Z manga. The whole series is simply Dragon Ball. The Z is an anime distinction (carried over to Viz's translation of the manga), and since you think the anime sucks, I doubt it's something you want to reference, motti. ^_~ I somewhat agree with you. I don't hate the anime. I enjoy the voices and music (and, of course, I must specify I'm talking about the original version). It's just a lot of the filler and padding that completely destroy the pacing and cause much derision from fans and non-fans alike. So, yeah, that's irritating. But there are some moments in the manga, in my opinion, where it seems like Toriyama would leave things purposely vague or sparse for the sole purpose of having filler added in later (Saiya-jin Saga, I'm looking at you).

THE U.S. VERSION OF THE ANIME WAS RECORDED IN FT. WORTH, TX. I HAD ACTUALLY AUDITIONED SEVERAL YEARS AGO FOR IT.

I've not read much of the DB[Z] Manga, but I can relate. I loved the anime as a kid, but going back and trying to watch it recently... the padding and filler material make it so tedious I want to hurt someone.

ONE OF MY OLD FRIENDS WAS REALLY INTO THE MANGA. HE WOULD BRING AN ISSUE UP TO WORK AND READ INSTEAD OF WORK. SO, I STARTED BRINGING DVDs UP TO WORK.

I hear ya, kev. But at least most of Viz's work is accurate, and (if you have first editions of the Shonen Jump versions) a good two-thirds of the series at least is totally uncensored in nearly every way. And Viz did a much better job than FUNimation did its dub of the anime. That's totally unwatchable. At least Viz translated most of the characters' names accurately. Since I'm aware of what Viz's changes are, I can just read "Mr. Satan" in place of where Viz writes "Hercule" with no problem. With the dub of the anime, it's simply impossible to tune out every bit of audio and still be watching the show.

HERE'S THE LATEST FROM SUPERHEROHYPE.COM:

Chow Yun-Fat will star in 20th Century Fox's live-action adaptation of Dragonball, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Chow will play Master Roshi. He rounds out a cast that includes Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Emmy Rossum and Jamie Chung.

Dragonball is shooting in Mexico City and Los Angeles.

The film, directed by James Wong, follows Goku (Chatwin), a warrior alien who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling mystical objects known as Dragon Balls. Stephen Chow is producing.

Master Roshi is Goku's mentor, helping him achieve the highest state of fighting and spiritual powers.

Yeah, hopefully I didn't come across as a holier than thou know it all. I have to admit it's a problem I sometimes have with DB, especially when all my friends are dubbies who have no idea what's really going on...

In my whole opinion, DBZ is a series you can watch only once. I mean, it is literally a 100 episode anime that was stretched into 500. I watched it as a kid, but then I lost interest after the Buu saga.

Yeah, it doesn't really hold up to repeated viewings precisely because it's so drawn out. That's why a lot of people like all those out-of-continuity movies; they give you a story that can be rewatched in a few hours without the episodes and episodes of staring and grunting.

If that's the real poster, then the girl with the gun is Emmy Rossum. Damn, she's hardly recognizable. I suppose they decided not to give her blue hair for the role. I'll have to revise my wet dreams.

As a fan of the manga i must say as an anime purist this film is going to suck.

Hollywood is out to ruin some great anime, I am therefore boycotting the live action Ghost in The Shell and Akira.

Not true to the source material. That actor dude is white and not japanese and chow yun fat is chinese. All Bad american casting.

I will be very suprised if this movie is not a total dud like speed racer.

I was one of the few people who was exstatic when the americanizations Of Space Battleship Yamato and Evangelion were not made.
