Downloading original trilogy

Hi,

I'm a purist like mostly everyone here.  I purchased the 2004 trilogy because it was the first time available on DVD but of course it was the Special Editions so then I purchased the 2006 trilogy where they included the untouched originals as bonus material.

However, those are letterboxed and when viewed on my 65" HDTV I have to zoom in so the width of the film touches the outside edges of my TV which automatically reduces the picture quality.

I was watching The People vs. George Lucas and I remember them mentioning something like the original trilogy in it's purest form was available to download online.  Is this true?  I know you can try to get it from torrent sites, etc. but I could have sworn they mentioned this site by name.

I'm just looking for good downloads of the original, untouched ANH, ESB and ROTJ films that I can then put on a flash drive and watch on my HDTV without losing the picture quality.  Torrent sites have always given me virus issues so I'm looking for something more reliable.

I would appreciate any help.

The best versions for the Original Trilogy so far on this site that I know of are:

Harmy's Despecialised Edition where he's using the 2011 Blu-rays as the source and he's eliminating all the SE changes by using various sources and is using a colour reference from an unfaded Tech IB print. He's currently working on v2.1 of Star Wars but v1.0 of all three are available:

Dark Jedi's Blu-ray trilogy, where he uses an upscaled version of the GOUT/2006 DVD as the source and has extensive colour correction, fixing smearing problems and reinserting missing frames. He's said that this release is more about the audio options as opposed to the video:

Puggo's 16mm trilogy, where he's using scans from original 16mm film, though this is more of a grindhouse presentation as opposed to clear HD quality. The names for each are:

Star Wars = Puggo Grande (completed)

Empire Strikes Back = Puggo Strikes Back (completed)

Return of the Jedi = Return of the Pug (still working on)

and negative1's 35mm trilogy, where he's using scans from original 35mm film, though this one still has a lot of work left.

In the end, if you're looking for the best presentation so far, definitely go with Harmy's Despecialised Edition, also as it's easier to get too.

It must have been a long time since he said that because there's been an insane amount of work done on the video, and not much on the audio.

Thanks man!  I actually noticed that version when first checking out this site yesterday.  I'm definitely going to try those out.

Thanks again :)
