Does this make sense? — Page 2

No, stop that. Silly. Too silly.

(obscure Monty Python reference)
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

How can you expect us to take you seriously when you say things like that? Can someone say immaturity.
Nobody is saying that Lucas is the most perceptvie guy. We're not defending him personally, we are just trying to shut all the deranged and livid fanboys up before this forum becomes a method to spout Lucas hate.

That isn't how it was when I joined.

So am I, and those Lucas Fanboys are quite the inbred lot, aren't they? Buncha dateless, lifeless losers whose only role on Earth is to spread the Lucas Religion or die trying.

I wish they'd all stay on StarWars.com and leave the normal movie fans alone.

I still think that a hundred Chipanzee's on a hundred typewriters will eventually write a better Star Wars script than GL (anyone else think of Green Lantern when you read that?). I wonder if the Muse that gave Lucas the Star Wars info is regretting her decision?

From far beyond the mortal plane...

"What the F**K! I didn't tell him to write that!"

I just want to remind everyone of an old addage: "there is a fine line between genius and insanity."

Oh, it doesnt have anything to do with Lucas, he is far too deranged now for me to even reflect on the past genius that may have existed, and calling him insane is kind of an insult to all those chaps in the white coats.

BTW, I think this is right at the tip top of my list of most pointless changes imaginable. Im suprised he didnt go back and change some of the characters names - it would make just as much sense.

Well, Darth Chaltab doesn't agree with my rather direct attacks on Jimbo...

...But Luke does.

I guess I'll control myself from now on, for the sake of humanity.

OK, we all know about the change in Empire with the Emperor and the new dialogue. Now, earlier in the movie, when the imperials receive the message from the probe droid about Hoth, Vader says, "...and I'm sure Skywalker is with them." Jump ahead to the new scene.
Emperor, "We have a new enemy...I have no doubt this is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker."
Vader, "How is that possable?"
Emperor, " Search your feelings Lord Vader."
Vader, "He is just a boy. Obi-wan can no longer help him."

So, at first, Vader is looking for Luke. Then, when the emperor tells Vader of the 'new enemy', Vader seems to be clueless. Then, in the next sentence, he is obviously talking about Luke. (I hope you can follow me on this) To me, that whole new scene makes no sense! Does anyone else have another take on this? Or is this just another example of how Lucas screwed up, again?!

He was lying. Remember his plan to destroy the Emperor.

I don't buy it either. For one, Jedi showed how Vader was still Palpatine's bitch ("I must obey my master", not to mention that he brought Luke to him). I always thought that his "Join me, you can destroy the Emperor" speech was to trick him into coming with him. Only at the end of Jedi did he realize what a bastard the Emperor was and finally rebelled against him.

Of course it was! I agree totally! Same thing when Dooku said that to Ob-Wan.

Psh, of course Vader was lying to the emperor...Palpatine was so weak, and naive with the force that he wouldnt have had the slightest clue...</sarcasm>

I think its obvious that if Vader was going to deceive anyone it was Luke, but he underestimated him. Anyone who thinks that Vader was lying to his master at THIS juncture, get your head checked.

1. No, the new lines do NOT make sense.

I would, however, like to put forth a hypothetical:

According to Knights of the Old Republic, 4000 years before ANH, it was customary for the titel of Sith Lord to be pasted from one Sith to another through assassination. An apprentice always rises to defeat their master.
If they are successful, then the Sith have grown more powerful.
If they fail, then the Sith strengthen themselves by removing weak apprentices.

Assuming the same tradition was kept, Palpatine should have expected Vader to do something. When Luke pops up, bingo, Vader now has an apprentice he can take and Palpatine should see the writing on the wall.
So, we shouldn't be surprised if Palpatine knows exactly what is going through Vader's mind.

However, Vader should know the same traditions. He should know the Palpatine would expect him to attempt to surplant him. Again, when Luke is discovered, he should know that the Emperor knows.
Why would he attempt to deny it to the Emperor??

Its at that point that I sense my head start to swell, and I cannot think about it anymore lest my head explode all over my place of work.

That's right, let's cover every plot hole we can find. I mean, this whole thing is so grotesque they'll find Jimmy Hoffa buried in that plot hole!

I guess that does make sense. If you have more than two Sith Lords at a time, they'll try to kill the other to be more powerful. But Palpatine should've known this and so should Vader. The dialogue still doesn't make much sense.
