Does comcast throttle your bittorent and rapidshare downloads from fanedits.org?

Last night, I got into the website fanedits.org thanks to you guys. I think found heaven! Adywan's special edition revisted looks amazing! Looks like ILM work from people who cared.  Only problem is, I have comcast and I know comcast doesn't like bittorent downloads. I read that they throttle downloads from them to dial-up speeds. Is this true? What about rapidshare, do they frown down on rapidshare downloads too?

Yes Comcast is notorious for screwing with torrent conections...however remember that your cable speed can also vary depending on your local nodes load at any given time....

I'm on charter's cable service and every 4-6 months my line speed starts to slow down at peak times until charter decides to expand the bandwidth at the local node or however they do it....then it's fine for another 4- 6 months until there are too many new subscribers once again....

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

So will torrents still work? What about rapidshare?

They work, it's just that it'll be slower than most ISPs.  I have Comcast, and it takes me three days to a week to get a single-layer DVD (4.5 GB)

That sucks, 3 days to a week? Even if you're on comcast's lowest plan 6/1, that should only take several hours. Do they throttle rapidshare too?

Is comcast still able to throttle your bittorrent connections when you use encryption?

Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Why does comcast throttle your downloadss, if you have a 6/1 plan for example, you should be able to download anything you want at that full speed. That is the amount of bandwith that you get, it's not like you're monoploizing comcast's bandwith, they should just cap it at 6/1, not cap you at dial-up speeds.

comcast (i'm actually on cox, so i don't have that problem)

also just went to a 250 Gig per month cap, so you are limited

to that also.. if you go over, they warn you..

(they don't provided you with a meter either)..

also, if you go over again, you get disconnected for quite a long time (a year?)

it's pretty bad, looks like..
