*sigh*

After some soul searching and thinking about it . . . I have decided to give Jodie Whittaker a chance. I will watch her first episode and then we will see.

Progress!

That’s a big commitment, watching an episode of a tv series. Are you sure you’re ready?

Good for you, Warb!

That took soul searching?

Why? Isn’t soul searching what you do when you give up alcohol or decide to have a baby or change religions or something?

I think it’s when your religion tells you to give alcohol to your baby.

I guess you’d probably do some soul searching if social services took your baby away because you fed him or her communion wine stolen from a church. I’m sure that’s nothing compared to deciding whether or not to watch a single episode of an upcoming television series reboot though.

The government ate your baby?

Because that is what I had to do.

Yes, and I didn’t do anywhere near the amount or depth of soul searching involved in those things.

I thought that you were using soul searching sarcastically.

If you can’t find your soul, check with Thrillhouse.

I misplaced my soul last year and never found it. I think I accidentally threw it away while I was cleaning my house.

Soul searching is considering your own emotions, motives, prejudices, etc and what may be driving them. Warbler appears to have thought more about what really upset him with regard to a woman in the role. He may have discovered repressed fears or insecurities with regard to a woman being in a position of leadership. It could have been any number of reasons.

Whatever they were, he’s decided to address them. He’s also openly stated his decision to try to grow emotionally. I applaud him on both counts. In his case, soul searching with regard to a TV show may seem trivial on the surface but the show was really just the trigger to look at much deeper issues.

Warbler, I hope you stay on for the ride. Personally, I’m hoping for a little less silliness and a little less all time & existence depends on this episode type stories. I’m wanting to get back to some of the better one-of stories. Fingers crossed Ms Whittaker and Mr Chibnall want the same.

Agreed.
