Do you think they'll fix the sound issues?

It would be interesting to get the new dvds coming in September and discovering that they fixed the sound problem during the SW death star battle in the 2004 dvds.

I wonder what Luca$' excuse would be this time?

Oh, I, uh, changed my mind. This is now my intended vision.

I hadn't noticed that problem, because I've only watched the SW SE DVD once, to hear the commentaries. Having read about that problem yesterday, I watched that section of the DVD and did notice that the force theme is missing from that scene (I checked the French mix too, and yup- it's there! LOL!) Strangely, the force theme is also present on the SE laserdisc, so.....? They really screwed up on those DVDs.

Idiots. I somehow doubt that they'll fix the problem, though. They hate admitting they've made a mistake. I don't really care anyhow. The SE DVD is not my preferred viewing choice for Star Wars.

Aren't there other sound problems with the DVDs? Wasn't there something having to do with rear channels being reversed or something?

Constantly changing a movie will always yield new mistakes and problems. I don't know why anyone expects anything better from Lucasfilm by this point. Asking them to "fix" something will probably yield the opposite result in their case. They're incompotent and evil.

They'll probably fix it, but won't admit they made the mistake. They'll say the problem never existed.

If they fix any of the innumerable technical errors with the 2004 versions they'll be opening themselves up for a lot of criticism. They made such a song and dance about it being a 'creative choice' that any changes would leave them with a huge amount of egg on their face.

There are loads of technical errors on the 2004 editions: incorrectly mixed audio, damaged audio elements, inconsistent colour timing, incorrectly coloured lightsabers, garbage mattes... the list goes on. Of course of none of that is taking into consideration the terrible changes hacked in there to try and make the originals fit the prequels - Lucas apparently failed to realise that it should have been the other way around.

I want to say they won't be changed, at least this time around, because, as far as I know, this is simply a repackaging of the '04 and '05 releases. I also want to say they won't because of the fuss they made about it being "a deliberate, creative decision."

But I also think that it's possible that it will be changed eventually regardless. One, because they can't resist changing things as often as possible. Two, because history has shown that they'll quietly fix things and pretend they never existed. Luke's scream in '97 anyone? Hmm, I wonder what happened to that? I've never heard Lucas ever mention it before. I'd love to hear him try to explain that one. If I could get him to answer one question and force him to get an honest answer... well, I don't know if that would be the one, but it would probably be pretty high up on my list.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I severely doubt it.

In the DVD trailer Vader's lightsaber is still pink.

The colour fuck ups are still there. No reason to believe the sound will be fixed. I suppose they could still fix it between now and release but i think the disks are pretty much done and ready to be finalised. They are doing this mostly to get rid of surplus 2004/5 disk stock anyway.

My bet's always been that they'll fix it on the supposed 30th anniversary boxed set that everyone keeps figuring they'll release. And I honestly only know one person that actually believed the "deliberate creative decision" line. Could not believe it when he tried to correct me that it wasn't a mistake.

Mistakes? MISTAKES? George Lucas doesn't make mistakes. Just ask Rick McCallum.
