Noooo! "Westworld" remake initiated by Schwarzenegger in 2003?!

This may be old news to you guys, but frankly I was taken by surprise. I was merely surfing around the web for nostalgic stuff when I stumbled across this.

Why doesn't Hollywood merely re-release the old films again? That'd be more honest in my opinion - and cheaper (And I'd get to see it in a theater).

Why do they feel the need to remake every fucking film that has any significance?

I am getting fed up with it myself, these remakes are rarely better than the original and I find it sad that Hollywood isnt coming up with many new fresh ideas and all they seem to be producing are re-makes sequels and adapations from comics or books.

It makes me wonder what has happened to the film industry. I mean, it seems that the last time Hollywood made anything other than pure shit was in the late 90's.

That to me it isnt so much remakes of foreign films for an American/English speaking audience who have different tastes etc which is bad, though some are inferior ones such as Point of no Return(La Femme Nikita) The Vanishing etc I cant judge the Japanese to American ones i have only seen the The Ring and not Ringu or any others, so they may be superior, it remakes of films such as maybe Westworld Planet of the Apes The Stepford Wives etc and all these horror remakes House of Wax Amityville Horror etc which I am getting sick and bored with....

I HEAR THAT. I'LL TAKE THE 1953 WAR OF THE WORLDS OVER THE 2005 VERSION ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I concur. The new version sucked, and was one of Spielberg's worst films.

Can you imagine if he had remade it in the 1980s with Harrison Ford in the Tom Cruise role?

Frankly, I'm surprised that they haven't remade Forbidden Planet or Fantastic Voyage. And let's hope it stays that way.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

I just watched Westworld again and I really have to say that there's no way Arnold could have replaced Yul Brynner as the dreaded 'Robot Gunslinger'. I love that olde film (listens to "Kraftwerk - Die Roboter").

Because they think no one will go see a movie in theatres when it's already out on DVD. For the most part, they're correct, but I miss the old days when theatres would grab a group of films on rerelease and organize marathons and festivals with 'em. New Line tried this a couple years back with the LOTR movies, but no one's had the cojones since.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.
