Discussion: Probably the coolest vintage that didn't get made

I was browsing around www.toyrgus.com a few minutes ago, and I found something really nice.

Somehow, someone got their hands on a “1985-1986 Line Extention Binder”. Basically, its a binder full of concept drawings and toy mockups that Kenner wanted to build, but wasn’t able to.

I found one that looks like a really nice concept.
Falcon Cargo Handler
Its called the Millennium Falcon Cargo Hauler. Basically, its a small ship that slides into the forward mandibles of the YT-1300 design. I think its a nice concept, and I wish they could have released it.

Ah, the adventures that could've been formed around it...too bad it never found itself into production.

That's weird. I sorta remember playing with that as a kid. I had (still have actually) the millenium falcon and a neighbour of mine had this ship that fit into the front of the mf just like in the picture. I always thought it was really neat in a cheezy kinda way.

I recall something like that as well. Not so much that particular design as a friend of mine had something that fit in that gaping hole in the Falcon. Interesting.

That's kinda cool.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

ahh yes the kenner toys. If I hadn't only scatched/dented/broken most of the ones I had, I would have a lot of money today. Then again I would have had a lot less fun as a kid.

Yeah, and besides they're only worth money if you sell them. Would you really part ways with Star Wars?

I parted ways with almost all my newer release action figures and vehicles. Still have all my vintage stuff though (save for what my mom donated).

What I could never understand was, Kenner only produced 20 figures from the first movie. Only 20 for ANH? And besides that, they never made a Tarkin, Uncle Owen, or Aunt Beru figures. I can sort of understand Owen and Beru, but Tarkin? I just wish that there had been more figures for the first movie. Especially Tarkin. 20 just didn't seem like enough.

There were way more than 20 for Empire and Jedi.

Does that include the additional figures that were made in the Power of the Force series that were released in '85? That seemed to be a bulk of the catch-all figures. This was where you would find the Luke in Stormtrooper disguise.

Ooops. I forgot about those final 17. So with Luke in the Stormtrooper Disguise, that would make a total of 21 for ANH. I would like to get those final 17, but they are so expensive. One of these days, I may break down and try for them.

I've got all those save for 3 or 4. I don't have Yak Face, Han in Carbonite, and Luke in Stormtrooper Disguise. I'm also missing the B-Wing Pilot (is he POTF or not?) and the tall blue Snaggletooth. Other than that, I've got all the vintage figures. A couple of my POTFs are still on the card.

Thanks Sean. I've looked on ebay for them. I've just started to research them to see what they have gone for in the past so that I know where abouts my maximum bid should be so that I get them.

Bossk. The B-Wing pilot is from the ROTJ series. The A-Wing pilot is in the POTF last 17 set. The only one I have from that set is EV-9D9.

I've nver been a fan of the blue Snaggletooth. It's nice and all, but I like my red one the best.

Okay, then it's the A-Wing Pilot I need. I always confused those two. Same mold, different color uniforms.

I never liked the blue Snaggler either. I carried my red Snaggletooth everywhere with me as a kid because he fit perfectly in my pocket (hey, when you're a kid, your pockets are smaller). However, I have seen him and I had a friend who had him and, therefore, I consider him a must for a complete vintage figure collection.

Ironically, EV-9D9 is one of the two POTF figures that I have carded. The other is one of the Ewoks. Plus I have a carded ROTJ R2-D2 with Sensorscope (yes, I know he's an ESB fig, but the released an ROTJ carded version of him, too, as I recall - ah hell, my recall has been for shit lately, I could be completely off).
