Discussion: Episode III toy Lightsabers

I was checking out the toys tonight and I saw the new lightsabers. Like a lot of the other toys, they looked cheaper than the previous ones. THe detailing seemed a little softer. Maybe it’s me. What struck me though was Mace’s lightsaber. Has anyone here seen it? It looks nothing like Maces. The design looks like Darth Maul’s saber cut in half with a purple blade attached to the wrong end. Corrent me if I’m wrong, but I remember there being a correct Mace episode II saber. What’s even odder is when one wonders who they expect to fool. There are two pieces of art on the box of Mace Windu brandishing his lightsaber. Anyone who glances at it could easily see that it’s completely different. Any ideas how this happened?

That would explain how it got past QC. Still it's a tad ridiculous to make a toy based on a changed design. Thanks for the info though.

You would think that they could have made a new mold in between when the finalized the design back in 2000-2001 and four years later

I didn't want to start another thread, so I'll ask it here.

Has anyone broken down and bought the Force FX lightsabers and if you have were they worth the 120 bucks?

Or should I just save up for the uber-sabers up there in the 300 dollar range(assuming I can actually save money)?

THE FORCE FX SABERS ARE QUITE NICE ALTHOUGH IN MY OPINION THEY ARE JUST REALLY EXPENSIVE VERSIONS OF THE HASBRO SABERS. THERE ARE MANY PLACES TO GET "LIGHT SABERS." TRY LIGHTTECHINDUSTRIES.COM. THEY HAVE SOME OF THE BEST ONES OUT THERE, BUT THEY DON'T HAVE "REPLICAS" OF THE MOVIE VERSIONS.

You think it would be better to just get me a graflex flash off of ebay or something and get me a kit?

I knew about the conversion kit, but not about parksabers, thanks.

I think I like this conversion kit better though: http://www.blast-tech.com/products_packagedKits_GX-1.asp

I have the Vader ANH force FX & it is AWESOME. in low light, or at night, it looks like the real thing. (shining bright lights directly on it, or being in direct sunlight kinda cancels out the light it emits). & the hilt looks perfect. It really is as close to having a real lightsaber as you can get. & you should be able to find them for $99 in many places (i got mine at Borders bookstore). They are FAR superior to anything by hasbro. & as for buying graflex on ebay... i'd stay away form that. The prices those things go for on ebay are rediculous. I talked to a guy at a camera store onetime who said those flash cells in reality are only worth $20 at most. Its the willingness of STAR WARS fans to pay exhorbitant amounts that has driven the prices for them so high.
