Thought it may be worth having a thread on the various auctions selling Star Wars memorabilia taking place around the world.

^ according to that article… ‘The most expensive piece of Star Wars memorabilia was an R2-D2 droid used in several Star Wars films. It fetched $2.76m in Los Angeles last year’.

A man who made appearances as Darth Vader at film premieres and fan conventions will sell a costume created in 1979 by the “Star Wars” design team at an auction of classic movie memorabilia next month, auction house Bonhams said.

‘Profiles in History recently announced its upcoming Icons and Legends of Hollywood auction which will feature the screen-used helmet and mask of none other than Darth Vader. The prop, from the mighty Sith’s The Empire Strikes Back appearance, was worn by the character’s physical actor David Prowse during the film’s most iconic moments — including the scene where Vader reveals to Luke that “No, I am your father.” You’ll have to perform your own James Earl Jones impression.’

But c’mon, Return of The Jedi’s blaster versus the helmet Vader wore during the most famous twist in genre? Sounds like this could be a deal waiting to happen for the right rich collector.’

‘The auction, held at East Bristol Auctions in the city, raised almost £100,000 and some of the proceeds will be donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK.’

'Auctioneer Andrew Stone said the combined total of this auction and a previous sale of Mr Prowse’s estate in May had raised more than £500,000.

“The sale was out-of-this-world,” he said.

“We had bidders from all around the world. I hope Dave would be proud. I wish he could see how so well-loved he was, especially here in his home town of Bristol,” added Mr Stone.’

Brilliant that Alzheimer’s Research UK will also benefit from this too.
