Did people really commit suicide over GL's decisions of the PT?

I read somewhere that that during the making of the PT Lucasfilm occasionally would report fake news just for fun about the PT in SW insider and such. One time, they put out a trailer poster of episode 3 with Jar Jar prominently shown in it to tease fans into thinking Jar Jar would play a large role in the movie. 7 people were reported committing suicide over this. Another time, Lucasfilm announced as a joke that Hayden would be all CGI in episode 3, one person was reported committing suicide over that. Were these true?

ROFL.

Sounds like pure BS to me. I am pretty sure Lucas didn't really release false news either. Any news from official channels is typically taken very seriously. Had they really released a mock up teaser poster for Episode III featuring unrealistic amounts of Jar Jar, it is likely to have received a good deal of buzz, but yet it didn't get so much as a post here. Same thing for the 100% CG Anakin (which would have been good news for me, probably would have been an improvement). Also, had any of these things really happened, they would be documented somewhere. The Jar Jar poster would be easily found online, and some quote about the nonsensical choice to make Anakin 100% while all other actors remained live action would also surely be an easy find. People get good kicks out of well pulled off hoaxes and tend to remember them, if a hoax cost 8 people their lives, then you can bet the internet wouldn't soon forget about it.

The short of it, no none of these things ever happened.

Well the working Title for episode II literally was Jar Jar's big adventure.

But i'm sure that was Lucas little joke put there for his own enjoyment.

And i really don't think people committed suicide over it.

But then you never know there are nuts out there.

Seriously i saw on the news that in some other country a kid was convinced GTA IV talked to him and told him to go kill a bunch of people.  Guess what he went and did kill people.

Yes, it is true. There was 1 person in Germany, 3 in the US (one from michigan and 2 in california I believe), 2 from Canada and one from Japan. It was very sad. There was talk of prosecuting George Lucas for manslaughter but I guess his crack team of lawyers took care of it. We can only hope that when The Clone Wars animated film comes out we don't have a repeat scenario.

Err... was that dark humor? Quite frankly, if I was Lucas, and someone brought those charges against me, I would personally call all the families in question and LAUGH. What can I say? I have zero tolerance for frivolous prosecution.
