There already wasn't enough talking between Anakin and Obi-Wan, but what is said just seems so irrelevant to what's happening.


I know, I had always thought that meant that Obiwan would have tried reaching out to Anakin more than the PT portrayed. Plus, did Obiwan know that Anakin wasn't truly at fault in anything he did? That a weird alter ego, named Darth Vader, had taken control of Anakin's body? (As George wants us to believe?)

Besides, I think we already knew from his original appearance that he was a bully, impulsive, and not too bright.

Gaffer, I heard that Lucas is reinstating that scene in TPM SE, and this time Greedo punches first. Lucas reasoning, "I want the trilogies to echo each other, and this will work perfectly with ANH SE. "

Well, if that had been done right in the prequels, it would have worked perfectly. If you remember, most of Obi-Wan's advice and connection to Luke was based off of his mistakes as a young man. But, wait, I forgot, prequel Obi-Wan was perfect in every way and never made a mistake. But, yeah, if there had been a point in the prequels where Obi-Wan had given in to hate and came close to doing something evil, then it would have resonated well with that quote and been a contrast to Anakin, who was also confronted with choices and didn't resist.


I have to somewhat agree here. In ESB, when Yoda is arguing with Obi-Wan on training Luke, Obi-Wan says "was I any different when you trained me". Unless something happened that we all missed before Ep. I, how was Obi-Wan like Luke? We never really saw that. The only thing is that in the OT, it was much easier to turn to the dark side than the PT. Anakin was full of fear, anger, and hate throughout the PT, killed a tribe of Sandpeople in rage, killed Dooku in cold blood, and still doesn't turn to the dark side until he swears allegence to Palpatine. But yet Luke in ROTJ will turn dark if he kills the Emperor or Vader or stays mad too long? To me, the whole ROTJ throne room sequence doesn't make sense anymore with the PT.

Of course, I do like CO's comment on having Obi-Wan as an Anakin apologist. It seems like Qui-Gon actually started out like this, with his determination to train him because he is the chosen one, despite his obvious dangers that everyone else sees. They could of had Obi-Wan carry this on.

Its funny how if one looks at the PT, it seems like Yoda, not Obi-Wan is more responisible for Anakin's turning, and is the one who is wise because of the mistakes of his past. If he had been more accepting of Anakin, and less arrogant, things might have turned out differently.
