Darth Vader's Psyche: What Went Wrong

I originally saw some of this over at another board and tracked down the article. I am bringing it here to its proper home, where it can be discussed to death. According to Miranda Hitti of WebMD Medical News, Anakin Skywalker, Who Became Darth Vader, Had Borderline Personality Disorder. Fortunately our top psychiatrists are concerned with this instead of more pressing needs, like figuring out who the next Cho will be and helping him before he snaps.

But not to get too serious and to join in the fun, here is my contribution to the discussion:

According to further research, Borderline Personality Disorder has a strong correlation with elevated midichlorian levels. GalacticSmithKline has been racing Pfazer for the first patented pharmaceutical that will effectively lower midichlorian levels. In trial studies, side effects include dry mouth, fatigue, irritability, insomnia, and lowered telekinesis.
I am fluent in over six million forms of procrastination.

Not just any personality disorder. I've been arguing for a long time that Anakin (of the PT) displayed all the signs of a bona fide psychopath. For instance, he regularly showed a complete inability to balance his own personal desires with those of the people around him; there were many times that he had extreme reactions to relatively tame problems, but those reactions only seemed to come when those problems affected his own happiness. Also, he only seemed to care for the wellbeing of others when they served as emotional supports for him, and the minute they stopped serving as such even slightly, he reacted in extremely violent ways against them, no matter how close his relationship to them had been previously. When it came to the lives of strangers and innocents, he had no trouble murdering them without empathy or remorse. Just one sick puppy all around.

The patient may resist medication to have his midichlorian levels reduced. Im my professional opinion, I'd recommend the patient be placed in a special suit designed administer the drug as well as monitor the patients vital signs and regulate cardiovascular and respitory functions in case of an emergency.

My wife is a preschool teacher. Anakin exhibits, with massive regularity, the behavior typical of a three-year-old. What is curious is that such behavior was less evident when he first appeared in the Jar Jar Menace and increased with time.

Yeah, I'm definitely not sure what happened there. As a child he seemed to have a perfectly adjusted relationship to the world around him. He selflessly cared about other people and endured the hardship of being a slave with stoic contentment. Something happened along the way though, while under the tutelage of Jedi, that led him to start enjoying his own happiness above that of others to the degree where one loses all sense of a proper perspective.

While Anakin, Jedi knight may of been pretty messed up, how can one measure the psychological impacts of the dark side? I mean, someone could be a pretty ok jedi knight, turn to the dark side, and become an evil psychopath.

It's just a waste of money for a psychiatric hospital to psycoanalyse a fictional character.

It's obvious he's turned into a control freak over the years, striving to be the "Head Man" (not the Uzay kind).

Wait, who are we talking about here?

On an unrelated note, I wonder if Jett Lucas will ever redeem his father.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?
