Hmm, not to give away my upcoming review, I'm thinking of giving it a 31/2 or 4 stars.

I really enjoyed it and it's a nice little film, but there were a few rough spots in the script that needed work, but I do tend to be a tad stingy with stars.
The original Star Wars trilogy: Our cultural history deserves to be preserved and should be available to the public like all great works of art!

I gave it four. I've also got to write reviews for Shrek 2, Yojimbo (hey! a foreign film!), and Boondock Saints.

Boondock Saints was interesting; Willem Dafoe was definitely the best part of the movie, though.

Dafoe was just plain weird. I kinda liked how you see him "living" in the crime scene to envision how it happened. Kinda predates the concept as used on Crossing Jordan and is now used on the CSIs (the first CSI only used the closeup "wound photography" until the last season or two).

Well, my wife just bought me the WS copy of The Last Samurai. Lovin' it. Complete surprise gift.

Also, has anyone here seen the 2003 version of Peter Pan yet? Just saw it and I thought it was great. Especially loved Tink (Ludivine Sagnier). Wanna see a good picture of Sagnier from her role in The Swimming Pool? Link here.

After seeing "Hook" and knowing some details about Michael Jackson's "Neverland", I try to avoid anything Peter Pan related.

Last Samurai is a good movie, altough historically inacurate, and silly, in a Hollywoodesque way, at some points.

Of course it's historically inaccurate. When is a Hollywood movie actually accurate? Okay, once in a while, they're close. Then there are those Braveheart moments in which timelines are thoroughly fubar'd.

Give Peter Pan a chance. It's the truest to the source novel that I've seen. Forget Disney. Forget Spielberg. Definitely forget Jacko. I will admit that the costumes and makeup used on the Hook and Smee characters in this film did remind me a lot of the ones in "Hook", but otherwise. Jason Isaacs was great in his dual role. Adds much greater symbolism to the character of Hook as observed by Wendy, John, and Michael. Sagnier is light years better than Julia Roberts could ever be.

Give it a chance. If you don't like it... well... you'll have to come to the US to take it out on me.

Finally picked up Mars Attacks! It was in the $6.88 bin @ Wal-Mart and I could no longer resist.

Mars Atack is a very underrated and missunderstood movie. Only 6.88? That was a great deal.

Gonna have to check my bins as well. That should translate to a US$5.88 pricetag. Maybe even US$5.50.

Added Bubba Ho-Tep yesterday. I thought it was supposed to be a 2-disc set for some reason. All that makes it a special edition is the 17-page booklet and slip cover packaging (oh joy). Most of the booklet could've been compressed to about 10 pages if not less. And it's no different really than any other insert booklet. Otherwise, just a single disc. Good special features list, but I have yet to watch them. The movie was decent. Nothing spectacular by any means, but Bruce makes a good Elvis.

What really made Bubba Ho-Tep for me were the fantastic performances by Campbell and Ossie Davis; otherwise, it would've been just another mediocre indie flick.

Agreed, Campbell and Ossie Davis were amazing together. Not funny enough to be a comedy, not scary enough to be a horror pic, but a perfect drama between two old men well past their prime ready for one last rumble.

By no means a great movie, I nonetheless found the ending very moving, more so than Big Fish even. The extras were all right. The Elvis commentary was a goof, but the other one was pretty good. Lots a talking and easy chemistry. Also I didn't know author Joe Lansdale had such a great voice. He would been a perfect narrator. Made we want to find the original short story.

US$12.99. But since I traded in some CDs, I actually got the set plus $5 back. Comes with a comic book. Score!

Rounders special edition to be coming out in September. And I was just about ready to go out and buy the version that's already out there. I can wait a couple more months. And you gotta love the cover art...

I quite agree Bossk, I avoided it at the cinema thinking "oh god not more Hookness"

Then got a preview dvd from work & thought what the hell, watched it, loved it!
