DTS audio preservation .... UPDATE 07 May 2015 ... Work In Progress — Page 15

So folks know, this is not dead.

We have audio finished already and I'm getting to finishing another round of audio to send to DoomBot for edit/sync.  My favorite so far has been Event Horizon.  The Bluray sounded awesome with the cinema DTS audio attached to it.

I also had a chance to synch The Mummy HD-DVD to DTS cinema audio and it was another fun experience.

I know kk650 has used our Matrix audio for his stuff and TeamBlu just put out their ANH SE Bluray with the cinema DTS audio so there is stuff happening.

Cheers!!!!

Jetrell, are you ripping the HD DVD's yourself?

Where were you in '77?

I can rip HD-DVDs if that answers your question.

Glad to hear you guys are still syncing these soundtracks. Can't wait to see/hear the results.

This is one I am very eager to watch/listen to.  I've got the Ultimate Edition DVD which was the only DVD of the film to have a DTS... Came out to help promote The Mummy Returns.

Anyway........  The DTS track just kills, but since I never got a chance to see this one on the big screen, it will be fun to check out the original DTS mix.  :)

Thanks so much for everything!!  :-D

I do not know if I can post these up on a certain bean place or not.  They are in the BD format and I won't make xVids or AVCHDs because folks want them for their iPhones.  There are no menus, just straight movies with the cinema DTS audio added.  I also did Constantine from HD-DVD and that one sounded pretty sweet as well.

I have the Blu-ray of the Mummy and Mummy Returns.  How did the HD-DVDs compare?

“Alright twinkle-toes, what’s your exit strategy?”

My (UK) BD of The Mummy has player generated captions for the subtitles and locations which bugs the hell out of me since the cinema and DVD captions were specifically designed for the film

if there is a Custom BD that restores those with original cinema DTS audio, I'll be a very happy chappy I can assure you!

It's  the usual treatment for Universal catalog titles. The Mummy HD DVD's master has edge enhancement and a little DNR. The Blu-ray is the same master with more DNR applied. Same applies to Mummy Returns. The HD DVD's picture is better but neither is as good as they should be.

I like the HD-DVD versions better.  More detail though I agree, they could look better.  I own the Blurays as well, for posterity.

The Mummy was the first HD DVD I ever watched, and I was pretty impressed with the picture at the time.

Hopefully, Imhotep will pay a visit to Universal home video someday, and cure them of their DNR addiction. ;)

They really need to start trademarking it: Universal DNR Plus.  Or call it Universal Wax Vision.

I wonder if Stephen Sommers had any say in the matter?

Does anyone listen to him? Like if he directs in a forest does anyone care?

LOL.  I liked Deep Rising.  It's a fairly cool flick.

I like him more than Michael Bay. And Van Helsing is a guilty pleasure flick of mine. ;)

Jetrell, if The Mummy is going to become a finished project down the line, the isolated 5.1 score track from the original DVD might make a cool extra? It was a hidden feature that played over one of the submenus, only you couldn't back up or skip a track. Can't recall if I've suggested this before.

Well damn, I got rid of my DVD when I got the Bluray and HD-DVD.  If you have it to share it would be awesome, I'd love to add it.

Damn that BD of The Mummy is a mess! http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleiche/multi_comparison.php?art=magnify&x=561&y=327&action=1&image=3&hd_multiID=1728&cap1=39075&cap2=39065&disc1=4196&disc2=4195&lossless=1#vergleich

They did NOT do it any justice, that's for sure.  I think what I may do is upload an MKV with just the LPCM (which is created from the cinema DTS) and the DD+ until I get Silverwook's DVD for the isolated score and I'll do a second release with added cinema DTS and the score.  I am awaiting althor to reply on how he made the simple menu for his JSC BD25 so I can do one for the Mummy.

Then maybe I can sort it out and do the Mummy Returns the same way.

I managed to homebrew a BD-25 of the HD-DVD video with the Blu-ray DTS-MA (just to get the original on screen captions) over the weekend until this project comes to fruitition

I also managed to snag from rutracker, the 2 disc complete score and an interesting little oddity called 'Jerry Goldmsith's missing score'

not sure if anyone can add to that, i wasn't aware an alternate score existed?
