DTS audio preservation .... UPDATE 07 May 2015 ... Work In Progress — Page 14

Just so folks now .... if anyone participating in this thread gets a pm about this stuff, please direct them here.  I'm not mad at anyone but I have been getting pm's from new members about getting this audio and they've been sent by other members they've pm'd.

I do NOT do personal requests.  What I do is for the community.  If we see that enough people are interested I will go searching.  Now, the ONLY caveat to this is, for the people who have already been involved.  If they ask me about something I will do what I can for them because they have openly contributed to projects or causes here @ OT.

I hope I don't have to revisit this subject again.  I have a GREAT support pool here and I will not compromise my relationship with them for my own personal glory or somebody else's.

As ALWAYS, my personal thanks and gratitude to borisanddoris, Eldonante, Silverwook (and his anonymous donater), CapableMetal, DoomBot, schorman, Jonno, mverta, none, everyone whose shown their support, and OT.com.

Really? ugh can we tighten up the sign up

I'm guessing they figure that the audio has been decoded and fully shareable .... just that they cannot find it anywhere no matter where they look.  They probably don't read the site rules here very well because they are in such a hurry to snatch things up.

I've also had at least 2 people directed to me by other members here, asking me for lysheen invites.  I send them directly to the lysheen forums.  That is how it should be for now.

I'm sure the members mean well but there needs to be a boundary in place for this so it doesn't get out of hand.  I thought I had done that already.  I reinforced it today.

If it continues, I may have to come up with a different strategy as to how and when updates happen and/or where.  It is a last resort, I hope.

I just gave an invite out did not realise it was a new member until I read this :/

In the end it is your choice really but the thread for the invites states that these users should be signing up at the lysheen forum to ask for their invite.

My personal issue came when I saw all the users signing up here just to get invites for over there.  They would leave here, not come back really, and a number of them would hit n run once they got their invite over there.  I do NOT support non-support behavior for a site like that.

Hopefully whomever got that invite from you will appreciate and reciprocate as a member over there.

:)

I just try and share the love on here and help where I can I had no idea this was going on

I have actually been using Doctor M's philosophy lol, I will quote,

"Newbies and lurkers need not apply."

I get a ton of PM's for invites, links, for me to burn and send copies(like I am a Store lol and can afford to do this) and other stuff, well the first thing I do is look at their join date, and then I follow Doctor M's words above lol.

To me it seems like 90% of the invites I have given out were hit and runners, a lot of them are orphaned now so I am very picky about handing them out now.

It would seem that maybe these newbies are going to different members in a thread of their interest to make contact.  I don't mind sharing, I got ZERO issues with it.

That said, I believe newbies should peruse a site and maybe chime in a bit so folks get to know them before they go running for the gold, ya know.

I agree, we all were newbies at one point, but when someone just joins and there first contact is a PM for freebies this kind of rubs people wrong, as you said, post a little, get to know people, just join in lol.

Has one for Die Hard 1 been found yet? I am curious to know what that would sound like compared with the blu-ray.

Since the movie is a 1988 release it would not have DTS.  Now, if someone was able to capture the pcm from it and create a custom DTS track, you would at least get an idea of how it could sound.

ONLY movies after 1993 could have DTS.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I guess my confusion came from seeing that the releases on dvd had DTS mixes.

The LD/DVD DTS and cinema DTS are based on different codecs.

Is Supernova Cinema DTS available? Or, does a DVD with a DTS track exist? I'm going to finish my project, and I'd like to add the DTS track if available...

Getting a notification about this thread just reminded me of something:

Does anyone have a lossless version of the Matrix DTS?  The [spoRv] version was great, but gave trouble to the internal processor on the Oppo BDP-93.  The audio was all distorted.  I figure running straight LPCM through it would probably fix that.

“Alright twinkle-toes, what’s your exit strategy?”

the DTS track I put onto my [spoRv] project was left "as is" (as far as I can remember...), but jerryshadoe fixed that - great job!

You could ask him about it!

I ran the bitstream straight through to my actual DTS processor and it had no problems.  Sounds terrific.  But I played back the same file on a system that uses the internal DTS processor on the Oppo and it was distorted as all get out.  Very strange distortions.  I've also had no success playing it back on VLC on the Mac.  Just dead silence.

I tried just pulling it apart in LPCM in eac3to and it found a bunch of clipping, which is odd because when I was able to play it correctly with my DTS processor, it sounded perfect with no apparent clipping.

From what i remember Andrea you didn't leave the audio as is,  the file that i had sent you. You had changed it some how, re-encoded not sure. It was definitely different from my original file though.

Indeed, I wrote "as far as I can remember"... you know, I'm getting old, too much projects to do... (**/)

Just to know, is your file clipping-free? If so, maybe jerry's version is futile as he worked with my fault file... my apologize to everyone involved... "we learn from our mistakes", and I can tell by personal experience that it's really true! Thanks to all the wonderful people here I learned a lot of thing, and I refined my skills by trial and error...

No worries Andrea, the file i sent Jerry was the PCM so he had much less clipping and no loss.

I wasn't trying to make you look bad, after all you have done some very nice projects.

I just had to get that out there about the audio, since i'm the one who sent it to ya.   :)

No problems, I got it; but I feel guilty anyway... oh well, maybe I will be forgiven with my new projects... (-^,)
