Hello.
A few months ago, I purchased a genuine 35mm print of the 1992 animated CGI/CEL hybrid Disney short entitled “Off His Rockers”. Now, if you’ve seen this short, you already know that the only place you can watch the short is on the “Honey I Blew Up The Kid” laserdisc, which has been archived on YouTube before in its low, laserdisc quality. Of course, like any move that Disney would do, the short since then hasn’t gotten any HD release of any kind. It’s not even on Disney+. Go figure. Ironically, this Disney short, via the laserdisc rip and it’s re-uploads, hasn’t even been taken down by Disney themselves, to a point where I suspect that Disney doesn’t even care about the short anymore enough to take it down.

But now with this 35mm print in my hands, imported from the UK (with a BBFC rating card too!), we might as well finally have a chance to finally see this thing in its proper 4K glory… on the 35mm format! I will be taking donations in order to scan this in order to make this scan as perfect as possible. I am looking into making at least between $200 and $250 in order to get all of the funds for scanning, shipping, etc.

Once it is scanned, the short WILL be released on YouTube in its full glory (considering that Disney doesn’t even take down this thing…). Hopefully, FT Depot doesn’t beat me to the punch for this thing!

Hope to see you all in the future so that we can see this underrated short in HD for the first time!

Sincerely, Dozer Davis

Considering this short has Dolby Stereo, will it be decoded in Dolby A or SR?

I am assuming that the mix that is on the print is SR, considering that many Disney films during this period usually were encoded in DOLBY SR, so I would probably say that it’s in SR. Plus, it looks to be in stereo, so I’d assume it’s an SR mix. I will update this forum once the print is fully donated & scanned to confirm if this mix IS in SR, considering that I don’t have any proof that it isn’t in Dolby SR yet.

I believe this short was already scanned by AlanGrant from MySpleen. I have both the final edited file with audio track synced from the laserdisc version and the 4k uncropped prores file (125gb) from his scan if you want. I also believe he uploaded it to YouTube.
