DISCUSSION: How would you re-edit "Battlefield Earth"?

Battlefield Earth has been known to be one of the worst films of all-time, and so far there aren’t any fan edits or even posts explaining how they would fix the film.

The thing about Battlefield Earth is, it was criticized for the fact that 95% of the shots are slanted, terrible acting, poor script, overuse of color filters throughout the film, lackluster CGI effects, and an awful soundtrack that consists of nothing but a droning noise, as well as some major plot holes.

I know this seems impossible, but try to correctly positioning most of the slanted shots so it won’t be slanted, do voice-overs (that sound accurate to the characters) to fix the bad acting and fix some plot holes, put in better music so that it won’t sound like a droning noise, change the color filters, etc.

How would you re-edit Battlefield Earth, so it can be improved? Make sure to comment below, and good luck, ladies and gentlemen!

Nothing can save this movie. There’s not enough good stuff to salvage, even into a short film.
On top of that, the original novel was dumb, and the film is quite faithful.

Let’s try a few positive suggestions? I thought the faneditors around here liked a challenge? 😃

Surprised I can’t find a BE edit out there, not even on fanedit.

Where were you in '77?

The cartoonish color tints could go.

Maybe a wierder score could help with the mood, it has a fairly standard score IIRC that doesn’t mesh with the movie. Something more like “Dune” has.

I can’t recall specifics, but Travolalien monologues A LOT and is also an exposition machine. Cut down on that.

Just decided to watch this movie again for the first time since I rented it when it came out on vhs . I was not able to get through more than 20 minutes of it back then but watched the whole thing after reading this thread last night. to see if there is anything that can be done to salvage it .Only things I can think of are to get rid of the same curtain wipe they use over and over , change the music and get rid of all scenes of maniacal laughter .Maybe even get rid of all of Travolta’s English speaking lines but not sure if that is possible .I think the best solution would be to make it a full on parody and splice scenes from other movies in .they ripped off Bladerunner a few times as is .
