ding! ding! ding! ding! ding! ding! ding! give Gundark a prize!

yes, the face you see is William Daniels playing John Adams from the movie musical 1776. Daniels orginated the role on broadway and thankfully he got to play the part in the movie. Daniels gives an excellent performance that at least IMHO no else would be able to match. For those who don't know 1776 centers around the 2nd Continental Congress and the debate for independence from England. John Adams is the lead character. Although it is not always accurate I do believe it caught the spirit of the actual events. He is one of my favorite characters and it is one of my favorite movies. I watch it just once year, on July the 4th. I highly recommend it.

Guess I don't need to ask who your avatar is. Never seen 1776 though. Readily available for rent?

Oh, yes I believe it is readily available for rent. If can rent the Widescreen Version. This film really needs it. And if you don't like U.S.A. and/or you don't like musicals this film may not be for you.

I don't like every single one. But then again I don't like every single regular movie put out there. I dug on Moulin Rouge and Chicago. And I like musical theater like Rent and Phantom of the Opera. Also saw Les Miserables and Miss Saigon and Blue Man Group (although that one's not really musical theater so much as performance art).

I gotts rent this sometime. I remember it being on TV once, in a horribly dark and muddy 16mm print. It was so bad, I couldn't sit through 5 minutes of it, but I'm definitely willing to give it a second chance.

my fear of musicals came from My Fair Lady - good movie, but it just horrified me with regards to musicals.

I actually really like My Fair Lady. I think if any musical were to turn me off it would be The Sound of Music.

Nah, if you want to run screaming from musicals, rent Can't Stop the Music, with the Village People.

I think I'll stay away. Never heard of it and I think I'm better off in my ignorance.

Don't waste your money, motti. I've only seen parts, but the parts I've seen are certainly painful enough.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.
