Hiya,

I'm in the process of doing my own covers for a couple of the fan edits. I know there are a lot out there already but some aspects of them I didn't like so I figured I'd try them myself. I was able to get some textless versions of Ep 1 & 2 and just finished re-creating the logo. Just thought I'd show a preview for the heck of it.

Nice! Although I already made my own covers I'd love to check out the rest of what you've done. Oh and maybe you should add this to the covers thread in the preservation forum?

Thanks sweyland, I saw your covers and they look great. This is more an excersice in cover making for me at the moment. Yeah, if I knew how to move this thread to the proper location, I would.

Love the recreated logo! Also love the new Fan Enhanced, but the "F" looks a bit odd being part of the horizontal line. I think that F should be more like the one in the one Rikter made. However, they rock! I want all of them like this (well at least 1 & 2 - and 3 if MagFan has a crack at it). I may be wrong, but I think the gradient on the "EPISODE I" should be moved down a bit... The title was light at the top, and got darker closer to the bottom than in that one.

Also, I'm in Australia so I don't have any Criterion Collection DVDs, but from memory, that "The MagnoliaFan Collection" is copying the design right?

Yeppers, I just fired up photoshop the other day after I posted up the poster for Episode III and got started on a set KINDA like yours - I did jack your DVD cover layout (because it kicks booty!) to show off my covers - I did start a thread for it as not to also jack yours

Thanks for the feedback guys. Klokwerk, I see what you mean about the logo, I've sinced copied the color scheme from the official site and I'm removing the legal text from the back. Take a look.



As for the Criterion Collection... good eye.

I like the F now. I see that you're trying to imitate the THX logo as best possible. It works well with the F aligned at the very left of the logo. Did you remove the copyright info because it's a custom, or what? Anyway, doesn't bother me. The logo is now exactly the same as the official one, really good job! People who didn't know any better might assume that you've scanned the movie's poster as it looks so authentic. I can't wait for this to be finished. Keep up the good work!

Cool, so I was right about the Criterion thing.

Oh, btw, will you be releasing your "Fan enhanced" banner? I thought it might be cool to use on another fan edit I downloaded from the internet. If not, could you please tell me which font is used for that/the THX banner.

Once this is finished and released, I'll add the banners, fonts and cover in a zip file. The font used was Bank Gothic, or otherwise known as the Eminem font if you look for it for free.

Cool! Thanks for the heads-up casualimp. I thought the font looked familiar. They use a very similar font for the opening "Following takes place" text on the show "24". That's where I recognise it from.

So, can we expect another preview soon with back cover text, as well as an early preview of your cover for "Episode II: The Clone War"?

Well I'm out of town for Easter weekend so I won't be working on it for awhile. I'm a little stuck on the back at the moment and like to take my time. I like to please myself before I can send it out to anyone.

That's the best way of making covers, that way all of them achieve greatness in your mind, and it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. Of course, that won't happen here anyway, as everyone's gonna love this cover!
