We used to have a prostitute/drug addict living next door as a neighbour, and police used to come by fairly often because of her and/or her squatting friends’ activities.
She and they have long since vacated the place, but we still don’t like going over there, and I honestly wish I could burn it to the ground to purify the area of her everlasting taint.
It should be a crime to be me, I’m so awesome.
I’d share my crime history but I don’t want to jinx it.

Yeah, I’ve pretty much guaranteed myself a burglary now by saying crime never happens to me.
Send me your address and I’ll go easy on you.

Is that the one where Steve Gutennberg is revealed as The One?
Growing up there was no crime. Now there’s drug crime, but violent/robbery type crime is pretty rare, although meth is coming through so it’s not as rare as it used to be. When I was a kid there was, practically no crime. Then for years just kids getting busted with pot, but never violent crime or theft. Now meth is on the rise, and while violent crime is still rare it does occasionally happen now. Retail theft is common but house burglary/robbery is still pretty rare.
Lots of loiterers.
Neighboring house got broken into several months back. Other than that, there’ve been some illegal fireworks and general disruption of the peace, but not much else that I can think of. However, I’ve been away almost all summer, so who knows what I’ve missed?

We had 23 “rub n tug’s” shut down in my little city last week.
We made a few jokes until the truth about under aged girls who have been abducted and sold are the ones doing the “work”. And this is a very little city…
Also, when I was about 21, I went into the mall with the intention of stealing something from every store and kiosk.
I was successful.
I got to be such a klepto that I’d have to pat my own pockets when leaving a store to see if there may be need to hurry or not. That’s been a long time ago though.
I committed a crime once. I stole two shaped rubber bands when the sign said pay $5 to fill a container full of them (could fit maybe 150 into one). Got into a lot of trouble for that one, let me tell you.
Not enough people read the EU.
Many of my patients are petty criminals. I see them daily. It’s definitely perception-altering when you realize how many criminals live in your hick town.
Many of my parents are petty criminals.
What I misread. I have so many now-unneeded questions.
I live in the middle of nowhere, so the only crime comes from when the deer loiter on property.
The offspring of a minor local politician, one who’d been stirring up hatred and division online on facebook blaming anyone who didn’t look like, or think like them - for all of society’s ills, was arrested last week; for the very crimes their parent had been blaming on ‘those foreigners, innit’.
A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

The only thing Waukee has is lots and lots of weed.
When I was in my 20’s, my apartment was broken into and I was cleaned out. That is the only significant crime that happened directly to me.
However, my 75 year old aunt was a very recent victim of a more serious crime. She was a victim of one of those telephone kidnapping scams. The perpetrators convinced her that her daughter was kidnapped, and had her running around the state for over 30 hours, extorting her for $8000 over that period. Although she eventually learned that it was a hoax, and that her daughter was fine, the experience was extremely traumatizing. It happened about a month ago, and she is still suffering from PTSD symptoms.
Everyone needs to be made aware of this scam. If you get a phone call saying that a loved one has been kidnapped, it is useful to know the typical specifics of the scam: (1) they impersonate your loved one with screaming sounds in the background, (2) they insist that you stay on the phone and NEVER hang up, (3) they keep you moving non-stop, (4) they may spoof your loved-one’s phone so you think that they have his/her cell phone, (5) they claim that actually they are hitmen and that your loved-one was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, witnessing their hit (this latter is to convince you that they have no problem killing him/her).

I’ve got that too. Ya know. If anybody needs.
Other than going missing as a kid and almost getting kidnapped, I’ve had little direct experience with crime. Someone hit-and-ran my car a few years ago but it was only a small dent.

Holy fu¢king expletive, that is messed up! I still find it shocking that people can do that to other people, and I am 36, so it’s not like I haven’t seen proof of it before. Sorry to hear that happened to your aunt.
Never fessed up to this before, but figured I may as well, 'cause why not?
For a brief period of time — 2001-2002 — my parents operated a marijuana grow-op here, in the very basement of our now-condemn-worthy decayed shit-shanty excuse for a home. Not alone, of course; they had business partners who supplied the tables, lights, etc. Then one rainy April night, my mother made the stupid mistake of burning cannabis leaves/stalks in the wood stove, which sent a lovely hempy miasma into the air, alerting neighbours who called the fire department. From there, police got in on the action. They busted in doors, arrested my parents, confiscated all the plants and growing equipment, yada yada yada.
My parents were released the following day, but charges had been filed. After a number of years of hearings and delays and other legal mumbo-jumbo I don’t really understand, my parents received house arrest. A relatively light sentence, all things considered. Still, it was bullshit. All this hassle for what? Growing pot — organic pot, by the way — which never hurt anyone. My parents didn’t even benefit that much from the operation; their partners did. Hell, you just had to look at the state of the house even back then to tell we weren’t raking in the green.
tl;dr: Cops suck, Canadian cops unexempted. Fuck them and the corrupt bourgeois state they serve.
