LOL! I've been hearing about the potato and the shoe for years and have yet to spot them. Now that I know the exact spot I'll have to go back and catch them.

KJ, you're right!!!! I never noticed that myself, but you're absolutely right. Well, maybe it's because we're only looking at the port side of the fusilage in that trench run scene, and the full studio propis being shot from the starboard side? Maybe the ship has a different stripe on each side <<Shrug>>. I seem to remember someone, either Lucas, or someone at ILM making a point about the colours being broken up because you're looking at where panels have been replaced and repaired, without time or energy to repaint the ships markings. But, damn, I've watched these things since I was three and never noticed that!
The Death Star plans...yeah, I guess I've just gotten so used to that one that it doesn't even occur to me anymore For a while there I thought maybe you could make the argument that what the rebels had were prototype plans for the DS. But then AotC killed that idea (though, notice they DID use an idea from the development of DS2, which you can see in the Return of the Jedi sketchbook....namely the DS having those little pod things projecting off of the surface on pylons...kinda cool to see).

What about the Falcon's "fuzzy dice"? They're there in the shot where Chewie is getting the ship ready for departure from Mos Eisley, and NEVER sho up again.

Nope, both sides are like that, those are just the best pic I could find. Even the poorly done battle in the SE(I felt the CGI was below LLM's standards, but that's a different thread) has Luke in an X-wing with a broken stripe.

I made this screen shot a couple of years ago when this topic came up on another forum. Personally, I don't think you can really tell them apart from any other "asteroid."

Greedo shoots first? Not in my DVD player.

One thing I noticed the other night while watching ANH - at the very beginning, when the Tantive IV is being attacked, Threepio says, "There'll be no escape for the Princess this time!" or something like that. Then, when he's watching the hologram of the Princess on Tatooine and Luke asks, "Who is she?", Golden Rod says he doesn't know exactly, but that she might be somebody important.

What? How could he not know who the Princess was all of a sudden? Could he not see the hologram that well? Were his restraining bolts too tight? This freaked me out.

Its possible that he knew there was a princess on board but he didn't know what she looked like.

The radio drama has it that Princess Liea's presence aboard the ship has been made protected information in the droids, as such, they are authorized to mislead and misdirect those who would inquire. As far as just the movie goes, yeah, just because he knows of the princess doesn't neccassarily mean he's *seen* the princess.

I think I see it.
It looks like a mid-high sneaker.
The angle we see looks like the show, from the bottom, looking up the side.
The opening where your foot would go looks to be about where the line is pointing.

I could be wrong though. When the DVD comes out, though, now that I know what to look for, I could probably get a cleaner look.

Yeah, that has always struck me as a little strange.

This sounds like what I posted on the first page. In ANH, right after the Falcon takes off from Mos Eisley, Ben can be seen walking out of the cockpit - after he had already strapped himself in at the chess table.

I duuno if this counts, but I always thought the really tall jawas were funny. As the jawas are setting up the droids at the Lars homestead, several Jawas as tall as 3PO are moving around setting things up. I guess they ran out of kids
