Can someone please restore the original audio to the Smokey and the Bandit Blu-ray?  Please.

Nevermind... I did it myself.  Thank goodness for HDTV broadcasts of 1970s films with their original audio intact.

OK I just got the audio files from ABC, and I have to say that they sound FUCKING KICK ASS! the 5.1 and 2.1 tracks he created sound beautiful, and the complete Score is nothing short of amazing, I am currently testing a BD 50 of our full bitrate video and all these audio tracks and so far I am finding very hard to watch the film without the HD 5.1 track, it is that damn good, ABC knows his shit and does this stuff very well, and to have a complete 1982 Score on the BD is just wicked lol, and the Conan Symphony, Basils last performance, well there just is no words, well any ways I have listed the specs and as you can see the 5.1 is now the default, some may complain but the original LD audio is still present, OH and I forgot to mention his all new created Stereo PCM 2.0 track, I really doubt anyone that gets this will even listen to the PCM mono 2.0 track lol, I am not right now.

So a HUGE thanks to ABC for his involvement with this project, I really I could convince him to join the Team but he has said many times once this is done and the all new 2-Disc CD Set he is done with all this audio work, this is to bad, he and his work will be missed.

Video:
1080p AVC @ 30 Mpbs avg.

Audio:
1. PCM 2.0 (Mono)
2. DTS-HD MA 5.1
3. DTS-HD MA 2.1
4. PCM 2.0 (Stereo)
5. PCM 2.0 (Complete 1982 Isolated Score)
6. DTS-HD MA 2.0 (2010 Isolated Score)

Extras:
US Theatrical Trailer
Cast and Filmmakers' Bios
Production Notes
DVD Booklet Scans
Conan The Symphony (Last concert by Basil Poledouris)

***After further thought I am going to change the default back to the original LD PCM track because it is Theatrical, all the other options are bonuses, plus it can very easily be changed through your remote or the pop up menu or the main audio menu.***

It will be interesting to see how different this looks from the official Blu-Ray, i will definitely be picking up a BD50 when this is released.

Our version is nothing like the official BD, this is the US color timing, as you can see it is pretty darn different.

The colors look so much better in your version, great work :)

Yes! That's what that film looks like!

Damn that art work looks good, and the red case!

Thanks for liking the artwork!

I've spent many many hours creating it. I started with basing it on a cover DJ had a friend make for him but ended up changing almost every little detail.

For example, the front pic is from what I think is a print of the original painting, and the logo is from a scan of the soundtrack LP cover. The logo needed some extreme cleanup before it looked good enough.

I just signed up here to say WOW! the work you guys have put into this is incredible. I haven't watched Conan since I first got the (disappointing) blu ray back in 2011. Can't wait to view this!!

Had a 35mm print of Conan at one time, although it was mostly faded.  I do agree that the blu ray is off, but  I'll be curious to see the final results.  The screen cap of the snow seems a bit warmer than it should be.

The shots look amazing. I have no real problem with the BD's color timing, though I think I might prefer yours. My gripe has always been the audio. I am sickened by how terrible the remix is and more sickened by Universal's refusal to fix the problem.

As for which cut of the film I prefer... I grew up with the theatrical, but the director's cut is an interesting alternative. Basically, I like them both.

Overall, it looks really good, though I will say that the first screen cap does look a bit too pink:

A balance between the 2 should be perfect (the main thing is retaining the whiteness of the snow).

Maybe your print wasn't a US theatrical print? If I got this right, the color timing was different in other countries.

Anyway, you should see the DVD of the US theatrical, it's oversaturated at parts and even more red than those screens. And at some parts, blue colors are undersaturated. We used the same color balance as that DVD in each shot, just dialing it down slightly to keep a more natural look, which is what we believe is closer to how it looked in the theaters.

Here's a comparison that clearly shows the difference in the snow.

Top: US theatrical DVD
Middle: Our new version
Bottom: Retail blu-ray

EDIT:

Just wanted to add that we will not even consider changing this. If somebody wants a different color timing it's up to them to make their own project. We used the references we had, which was the US theatrical DVD and the Netflix HD version, and they both look the same. I also have to add that DJ only had the ending from the Netflix version.

By the way, here's that shot in the same kind of comparison:

Here you can clearly see that the theatrical DVD looks more pink than our final version.

I fully agree with my partner on this, we looked at the DVD, the HD stream as well as the LD, and this is as close to what it was that we can get,as with all projects you will not please everyone, and as You_Too said, the BD is out there, color it yourself until your hearts content, this is how I remember it and I watched this movie 1000 times with my oldest Son years ago, this US Theatrical version looked nothing like the retail Blu-ray, nothing.

So it is a good thing I posted screens, now some will know if they want to download this or not when the time comes.

Thanks You_Too for clearing all that up today while I was at work lol, you the man!

I also wanted to add that You_Too is also correct in that we will not be re visiting this again, this is it, there will be no more changes to the color, we worked very hard and long just to get where we are right now, so it is what it is.

I think you're doing a fantastic job! The film had always had a distinctive appearance and you're nailing it. The Blu-ray is sharp but there are moments when the colors really detract from the tone that the original had; the Tower of Set is a perfect example.

Between the corrected picture (and this is correct), the audio options and the artwork, this looks… dare I say… perfect?

On my calibrated display the DVD shot doesn't actually look more pink to me (when viewing the face and clothing).  The second image actually seems more pink in that regard, but the background elements are definitely cooler.  Perhaps it is more noticeable since the face is what the viewer will be focused on the most when watching the scene.

The contrast in the second image seems a bit low, but maybe that is just because it is sitting right next to the first which has higher brightness and contrast.
