I don’t think this one was mentioned. Versions prior to the 4K version there was a brief shot or two where Obi-Wan’s lightsaber was left uncolored. This was corrected in the 4K version.

Not a Special Edition change but something caught my attention tonight. Ive recently been doing some VHS digitizing and recently digitized my 1995 ‘Faces’ set and was watching a DVD I did of the ESB tape and I noticed something. At one point during the TIE Fighter/Falcon chase in the asteroid field I noticed that for a brief point of the chase the fighters laser blasts were blue. I thought 'weren’t those supposed to be green??". I went and checked a DVD I burnt of my 1992 VHS and sure enough green laser blasts. I then thought “maybe this was a change for the 1993/‘GOUT’ master??” since the ‘Faces’ set uses those masters. Went and checked my GOUT DVD and believe it or not GREEN laser blasts. So I thought “huh so for the VHS master they changed them to blue?? Strange but interesting.”

For comparison here’s some shots from the GOUT.

Anyways just found this interesting. I can’t comment on the Laserdisc versions since I dont own them nor have a player for them. I do have the Widescreen ‘Faces’ set but its at my other place. Maybe one of these days I’ll check that set too.

Maybe it was a restoration glitch that was corrected at some point?? I just checked a DVD I burnt of an earlier attempt of capturing my ESB VHS from about 10 years ago and that too has the blue laser bolts.

^ My VHS copy of the fullscreen ESB has the blue lasers as well , I have always wondered about this , even asked about it in these forums several times over the years .Restoration glitch seems the most likely to me …not much info on it out there though .

I watched Faces 100 times, how could I miss this. I suppose I was a child.

It was the first copy I ever owned and I’m sure I watched those tapes about the same amount of times hahaha and I only noticed this last night!

Wrong topic. Opps

One day we will have properly restored versions of the Original Unaltered Trilogy (OUT); or 1977, 1980, 1983 Theatrical released versions (Like 4K77,4K80 and 4K83); including Prequels. So that future generations can enjoy these historic films that changed cinema forever.

Don’t know if this was mentioned but the Digitalbits article on the 4K version of ANH mentions that the speeder was shifted slightly to the right in this scene. That’s not actually correct. The image is cropped somewhat more in the 4K version compared to the 04/11 versions.

YOU DOUBT ME?!

!

What’s really messed up is not only is it moved over slightly, the left side of the speeder is in the same place, like they pasted it on top of itself?
