They were both funny.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

So, who saw the new Captain America costume/character, by Alex Ross no less?

I don't particularly like it. Black tights and Captain America don't mix.

Yeah, but that's the Steve Rogers Captain America. If this is Bucky, like I think it is, then black could be a good match.

anyone here a fan of the golden age of comics as first appearing in newspapers. like Alex Raymond's Flash Gordon, and Harold Foster's Prince Valiant?

my fave artists from the golden age are alex raymond, harold foster and Jack Kirby and Al williamson in the later ages of comics.

I also like the very first original superman comics and the first x-men, fantastic four and new gods by marvel and dc repectively.

Three words: One...More...Day.

OMFG. Did anyone read that Spidey arc? JMS just totally knocked over the status-quo at Amazing Spider-Man.

I heard the basic idea and didn't like what I heard.

SPOILERS

Aunt May got shot by one of Kingpin's men (they were aiming for Peter and screwed up); so instead of doing the logical thing and get one of the many capable healers in the Marvel U, Peter Parker makes a deal with Mephisto (remember that devil guy from the Ghost Rider movie? Yeah, him). The deal: Aunt May survives alive and well, but Peter's marriage to MJ and all memory of it vanish from the timeline. Harry Osborn is back alive, apparently having lived in Europe for all the years since his death. Nobody remembers Spiderman's identity, but some things, such as his tenure with the Avengers, are still canon... somehow.

I wonder if this is somehow influenced by the Sam Raimi movies... but yeah, all the same, pretty f***ing stupid.

I heard that they're prepping a Green Lantern film with Hal Jordan as the lead character. I think Greg Berlanti is the name of the guy who's supposed to direct it. Ideas on who should play Hal? I'd recommend Nathan Fillion for Hal. Some other guys have said Jim Caviezel for Hal even though he looks nothing like Hal and doesn't quite fit Hal's persona, not to mention the Jesus typecasting as well as the fact that Jim's gonna be 40 this year and studios seem hellbent against casting anyone in that age range to play superheroes.

So, what're folks reading now? Thoughts on the current status quo in the various houses of Marvel and DC?

Lots of people really pissed off about One More Day/Brand New Day. I was initially pleased with OMD, however I felt very cheated to find out it was a nice big ret-con. I'm cool with it being about Peter on his own again, etc; however, it could have been handled better, IMO.

Secret Invasion should be interesting, and I'm also enjoying the new Hulk series by Loeb.

DC - Well, I've fallen WAY behind in my DC reading. I've still got several issues of the Sinestro Corps. War to catch up on, and stalled out on Countdown near issue 20. Got to get back to it, but as always finding the time is difficult. With prices the way they are right now I'm seriously considering dropping several titles from my list. Anyone heard about Trinity? ANOTHER year long, weekly series by DC. Not this time. They've gotten enough of my $$ over the past two years to try that again.

I'm probably going to pick up Trinity since I didn't pick up Countdown, and since Trinity probably won't suck.

i just read online that the siegel estate has reclaimed rights to superman.

what does this mean in the future for any dc comics or animated or live action movies?

Nothing at the moment. Warner is obviously gonna appeal, and DC still owns the Trademark of Superman, so the Seigels can't take him to another company. If all else fails they'll just pay royalties and pretend nothing happened. (It may not have been worth it to keep Kon-El around, but you can bet they're willing to pay for Supes himself.)
