At the moment I'm still trying to get hold of some Batman trades, but so many of them are out of print!

To bide my time, I am reading through John Byrne's run on Superman in the Man of Steel volumes. If I run out of those by the time my Batman orders come in, I may have to start on Sandman (it's inevitable, but I know that once I start, I won't be able to stop).

Yeah, same.

I read DK2 a few months back, and boy am I glad I only borrowed it. Such a huge disappointment on so many levels. It almost pissed me off just reading it.

Next up on my 'buy' list of collections is probably Superman: Birthright.

Either that, or the next collection of Top Ten if I can find it.

It's definitely worth it, man. Birthright *should* have been the new Superman movie. An all-encompassing, definitive retelling of the Superman myth.

It probably would have suited it's uber young lead better.
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Oh, absolutely. Tom Welling could have done it, even.

And Tom Welling is actually 2 years older than Brandon Routh.

Anyone pick up Pride of Baghdad by B.K. Vaguaghn? Looks interesting if he can keep his mouth shut on the politics of the war...

Didn't J.M.S. create Babylon 5?

IGN gave it a glowing review and said it was on par with The Watchmen.

Yes. One of the best shows in history IMO.

Thread, consider thyself bumped.

Anyone else getting the sense that Dan DiDio has no idea how to run a comic book universe?

I just finished downloading a huge-ass Lobo library. You guys know Lobo, right?

Lobo is, quite possibly, the most awesomely badass comic character in history. Not many people are familiar with Lobo because most people are lame and can't comprehend how much ass Lobo kicks. For example, the cover on the bottom depicts Lobo (also known as "the main man") kicking Santa's ass. Santa did something to piss Lobo off (or nothing, it makes no difference), and Lobo RUINED HIS SHIT. Lobo is a mean son of a bitch and doesn't take shit from anyone. If they made a movie about Lobo, it would start out with Lobo just sitting around looking at porn and minding his own business when some lame-ass comes by and starts nerding all over the place. Lobo takes his knife out and disembowels the guy while he's just standing there. The guy would start screaming because he's a pussy, then Lobo would reach down and rip the guy's lungs out. The rest of the movie would be mostly filled with Lobo wiping out villages of people, yelling at hospital patients and head-butting mimes. Lobo could kick any superhero's ass.

Well, it does appear that they're not following IC up very well, doesn't it? 52 is ok. I'm in it now primarily for only 1 or 2 story-lines. I couldn't care less about Animal Man, Adam Strange, and Starfire, although it is my first experience with Lobo and I like him.

I believe we're in for a period of Marvel ascendency.

You mean we haven't been since 1962?

Actually, 52, (which was Paul Levtiz's idea anyway) is one of the few things I'm consistently reading from DC.

Up until Civil War I thought DC was destroying Marvel, but now it seems things are turning around. I've got to trim my subscriptions. Got 3 DC titles I'm dumping and another that I won't be putting in their that I was considering. God help me I'm also thinking about dumping Legends of the Dark Knight as well and just sticking with the main 2 Bats titles.

Do you read anything by Dynamite? Man, I love their Highlander and Battlestar Galactica (modern) series. The art is fantastic.

I was wondering where this thread went.

So, just for the sake of beating a dead horse, is anyone here bothering reading the Richard Donner helmed issues Action Comics with art by Georf Johns?

Don't know if there are any Iron Man fans here, or anyone who would care in general, but I heard Robert Downey Jr. got cast as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the upcoming film adaptation of Marvel's Iron Man comic character.

First Nick Cage as ghost rider, and now this?

I'm thinking there's a casting director or two out there that needs to get laid off.
