I'm thinking that it'll be batman vs. spiderman at the movie for the next couple of years. Forget the fantastic four and Superman. Heck, you can even forget the x-men with the way things are going. These two will be the ones to watch.

If I had to give the Edge to one of them, I'd have to say Batman.

It had a much stronger start than the first Spidey flick IMO.

The 00s are the decade of the Comic Book movie. This is awesome. We have Spiderman 3 in 07, X3 eventually, and Batman, Superman, and Fantastic four all this year (Sin City if you're into depravity, too) And Constantine... Can't forget Constantine. (Or was that Last year. I don't recall.)

Doesn't really matter, it wasn't that good an adaptation.

constantine? I have to agree with you there. Just like electra and daredevil weren't good adaptions

I've not actually seen it, but I've heard Constantine was really good. I just didn't want to leave it out... since you know, it was a comic book movie. (Catwoman doesn't count as one since it isn't based on the comic version of the character. And since it sucked.)

Okay, I saw it and I must say, its the best batman flick, well, ever.

Batman's character was handled perfectly in my opinion and all of the actors performed past all of my expectations, especially Bale.

Bale has gotten Batman's voice down to a T, he must have definitely taken a cue from the way Kevin Conroy delivered the lines.

It may seem a little over the top at first, but thats the point: Batman thrives on theatrics that put fear into the hearts of criminals.

my buddy was telling me how good the voice is i am looking forward to that.

Alot of people are saying its wrong, but they just don't know batman's character and/or have only seen Adam West's version of Batman.

To tell you the truth, that series (despite it being the first) was probably the worst thing to happen to batman. It firmly set the character in the realm of whimsy.

Look at the very first issues of Batman from 1938-1939, the character portrayed there is much more close to what Frank Miller did in the 80s rather than what soon came after it: the remake of the character when the people started burning comics because of their distastefulness.

I was just never a big fan of it...at all. But I can respect those who do like it.

The Batman series was a real hit over here too. I watched its reruns as a kid during the late 80s.

In 1980 these 2 friends (probably 17 or 18 years old at the time) taped a Batman episode and dubbed their own voices over the episode, filling it with hilarious dialogue (mostly cursing, but in a funny way) - like "whats up tiger lily" or "kung pow", only 1000 times funnier. The tape circulated though copies and got a cult status in the 80s and 90s. Recently, a bootleg DVD was made of the dubbed episode, with the sound cleaned and using recently restored footage of the episode.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

lol, sounds like something everyone should see at least once. I've not seen anything like that over here in the states. And rtust me, it would have been at a comic con if we did. We get everything at the comic cons over here. Except the Motor City Con. That one rarely has anything to do with comics anymore.

Anyone see the History Channel special called Comic Book Heros Unmasked? Two hours on the history of the medium. Great stuff, to be sure.

Also, speaking as someone who's only recently returned to collecting in the last few years: There are so many cross-overs/events that keeping up is almost impossible, however I can't stop! It's like smoking crack or something.

I know how you feel.

I really only just started a year and a half ago and I just can't keep up so I relegate myself to a very limited number of series(other than Star Wars, which is limited to really 3 ongoing series and I get each issue of) and if there is a crossover of some time or a continuance of the story I'll just see if I can find the issue on a torrent site somewhere.

I pretty much regulate myself to spidey, bats, and daredevil. And some odds here and there.
