Apparently all five Hellboy trades are worth getting, so I guess you should get them all in order. Though I hear that Right Hand of Doom is the best one. There's also the Hellboy Junior trade, which I guess would be chronologically first, and is supposed to be a real fun read. All hearsay from me, though, I've never read a Hellboy comic in my life...

You really disliked it that much? I thought it was pretty good. I mean it had Ron friggin' Pearlman in it!

I agree about Pearlman...definitely cool actor as well as the voice of Slade for God's sake! However, I just could not do the movie for some reason. I think the premise of secret occult observation society is cliched, and the Hellboy twist was meh...pedestrian IMO. The whole thing about him being in love with Selma Blair just didn't do it for me.

You know, I couldn't believe that Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman were in love with each other in Episodes II and III, or that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were really in love in that god awful Daredevil, or that Benjamin Bratt was in love with Halle Berry in the even worse Catwoman or that the aforementioned Jen Garner was really in love with Goran Vsjnick in the crappy Elektra spin off. Come to think of it, I never really believed that Superman was in love with Margot Kidder's Lois Lane.

Cool. Always nice to see someone who isn't Spider-Man, Batman, Wolverine or any random X-Men character. Now they have to find a guy to play Cap.

A captain Marvel movie could be a lot of fun since he's a kid, yet when he's a hero, he's not.

Of course, they have to do it RIGHT first. Part of doing it RIGHT, I feel, would require that they not waste time with any love interests for Cap. (as far as I know, the only girlfriend he's had is Star-Girl, who basically looks like a teenager girl version of Captain America, which resulted in him leaving the Justice Society of America because some of the members thought it most unwholesome to see the presumably adult Captain Marvel hanging around with the teenaged Stargirl)
Any ideas on who to play Cap? Off the top of my head, I'd nominate Paul Telfer from that Hercules miniseries, if only because he's got the build and the dark hair.
God forgive me for posting his image here -
Even as we speak, fans of Conan the Barbarian want Telfer to play the Cimmerian in a future live action Conan film.

The hard part, I think, would be getting someone who can really pull off Billy Batson. The only good child actor I can think of right now--Dakota Fanning--is a girl.

World Without a Superman - Surprisingly good given Superman's absence. It seems Superman is more trouble to Luthor dead than alive!
Return of Superman - Oh my goodness this book just kept getting better and better. Trying to figure out how Superman would come back, and then which of the Supermen is the real one, full of twists and turns. And Steel - what a great character!
Superman: Red Son - One of the best TPBs I've ever read. For real. If you haven't read this book, go out and get it now. Having Superman land in Russia instead of America was just fertile ground for a great story. Superman's new heritage changes the dynamic of every staple character in a fresh, new way - especially Batman - oh man, that was a Batman fan's wet dream. A dystopian masterpiece. READ IT.
Batman: A Dark Victory - A great follow-up to Long Halloween, though perhaps not quite as great. But a great mystery story with as many twists and turns as its predecessor. I loved the way they introduced Robin too - the dynamic between the two characters worked really well. I think Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale are shaping up to be my favourite team.
Books I'll probably get next: Hush Vol. 2, Kingdom Come, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Batman/Dracula: Red Rain, and DC: The New Frontier.
Does anyone here think Batman: Year 100 will come out in TPB? I really want to read them, but they're too expensive on their own...
And Free Comic Book Day on my birthday - how sweet is that? Saturday 6 May, peoples...

Did anyone else read the finale to Infinite Crisis? I enjoyed it.
You should have let the Joker PLAY, Alex.
