So if it has sex scenes you will or will not go?

If that's a major part of the film I'm not even going to ask; even if I'm interested in the movie itself I can't go see something like that without getting laughed off by my parents/ called a pervert by my brother.

If I had my own car, though, it wouldn't be a problem, since I can legally go into R-rated movies by myself now.

You could always take the bus.

The only busses in my town are expensive private ones. And school busses.

Too bad. Public transport can be a very useful thing, if done properly.

That's nothing. The main road through my town is a four lane highway that was supposed to be a bypass.

And it so rarely is.

That's why the qualifier is there. I love my LRT, but heaven forbid I should have to take a bus any further than to the terminal.

Did anyone here catch the rumor about Jack Black being in talks to portray the Green Lantern? That one was a little scary actually.

One of the hardest things in making a Green Lantern film would be which Green Lantern do you go with, since there have been like four of them.

1) Alan Scott (the original Golden Age GL; blonde guy, AKA: the Sentinel)
2) Hal Jordan (second GL from the Silver Age; brown hair, looked like Paul Newman, arguably the most famous GL)
3) John Stewart (third GL, black guy)
4) Kyle Rayner (fourth GL, dark hair; I last heard he was muscled out by John Stewart because John was being featured on the animated Justice League series and next I hear he'll be muscled out by the return of Hal Jordan)

Logically you'd go with the most current one, but Hollywood doesn't always obey logic [COUGH::Catwoman::COUGH]
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

I had heard rumors that it was supposed to be the Hal Jordan era GL. Of course, this was a ways back.

Because of the Justice League cartoon, I think Stewart is currently the most famous Green Lantern. Plus IMO he's a really likeable character, so if Hollywood does what is logical,( not a good track record as Solo Vs Jones said) then Stewart would be good for the movie version.

Then again, with Hollywood's tendencies to randomly change the races of characters (like Kingpin or Catwoman), we'll probably end up with a Japanese green lantern named Ken Toriyama.

So now it's just a matter of finding the right actor to play the John Stewart Green Lantern... hmm, Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed from the Rocky films)? Or Avery Brooks (DS9)? Anyone have any thoughts/suggestions?

Not really. I don't think Green Lantern is a big enough name to carry his own movie.

I think you're right, DC. Don't let it go to your head.

If John Stewart were to be the Green Lantern of the movies, I'd have to say Dennis Haysbert would be perfect for the role. If it were any of the other Green Lanterns, I'd have to give it more thought.

While Dennis Haysbert would have been perfect back in his Major League/Heat era, I now have trouble seeing him in action roles after 24 when he played a mostly sedentary character. How about Mykelti Williamson? Or, even younger, Bokeem Woodbine?

I just wish they would stop with making nothing but Batman and Superman films. I feel like I've been over-dosed on Batman and Superman films. I need a change of pace! And I can't find that change with X-Men and Spider-Man... though Hellboy was a fun diversion.

They'll never know for sure if the other DC titles like Green Lantern can carry a film until they give it a chance. But what can we expect from a Hollywood that poured millions of dollars into Halle Berry's craptacular "Catwoman"?

It still boggles my mind how Hollywood could even consider this a worthy project.

Nit mine. After several years of Hollywood-watching, nothing surprises me anymore.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

But even teenage males who hollywood thinks would enjoy that sort of thing were sitting back saying "This is going to be crap."

Then we beheld it, and lo, it was crap.

There were other indicators. The fact that it was so low on the radar up until a couple of months before release, which is usually an indicator of reshoots or studio knowledge of a property's non-viability, is the most glaring.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Granted, but I knew it existed and was even interested until I saw the costume and learned the plot outline.

Apparently they are planning to posthumously insert Marlon Brando into the new Superman movie.
