It looks like for the BluRay release of the extended editions, PJ tweaked the colors a bit for Fellowship of the Ring. The result is a very minor green shift that ultimately isn't obviously detectable, according to. The idea behind the shift was to get the color grading in line with the next two films, by the end of which they had far greater experience doing this. I saw Fellowship Extended in theaters three weeks ago, and didn't notice any huge change. Anybody who has the set here wanna comment?

I have it, it looks GREAT! the image has never looked better than it does right now, and if this is the way PJ wants it, well then that is fine by me, however, it it does turn out to be an error, then I will join the disc replacement program if there is one, but I seriously doubt there will be one, those early screens that were posted weeks before the release by the screenshot scientists, were big time exaggerated.

Sweet D_J. I'm holding off since I just saw all these films in theaters and can make due with the DVDs, but there's only so long I can contain myself :)

Could someone with the actual Fellowship of the Ring BD post a screen capture of one of the following scenes?

If this is a true representation of the film's new colours, I have to admit I'll be a little disappointed.  I'm all for better sharpness and detail, but not at the expense of what was previously a near perfectly-coloured film.

I've been planning for a long time to make the other 2 films look more like Fellowship. Now Peter Jackson's doing the complete opposite LOL.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Yes, I've only seen these screenshots that came out before the BD was released. Does anyone with the retail BD in hand have the ability to take a screenshot?

I hope it isn't so. Fellowship was shot so beautifully. Changing the colour like that is like rubbing shit all over a Rembrandt. Sure way to ruin great work and cinematography, which is the biggest thing the film has going for it.

I personally hate the green shift, among many of the other color issues in the Blu-ray release. For that reason, I decided to completely restore the original color.
