My first arcade game was probably the original Pole Position. I loved the driving games as a kid.

I wasn't really a big racing fan when I was younger, but the games grew on me through the years.

Racing games I could take or leave. It depends on how realistic it is.

I didn't care so much about realism as I did about the feeling of sitting in a car seat and playing with a gearshift, pedals, and a steering wheel. That was such a gas for me as a kid.

I'm going to age myself: the first arcade game I ever played was Space War.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

What the hell is Space War?

The one that was supposedly used to train astronauts for landing on the moon?

Supposedly an online simulation of the game. Seems like there's no point to it really.

I can't imagine how games like that could entertain people...

Although, then again, my younger cousins can't imagine how Atari, Coleco, even Nintendo could entertain me at their age.

I can't imagine how a game like that could actually be used as a training simulator.

There was more to it than that; in the original game, the two ships looked like the Enterprise and a Star Destroyer... kind of. I played it on a ferry from mainland BC to Vancouver Island in 1979.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Speaking of classic games, I want the original arcade Star Wars that looked like neon beams of light that made up the pictures. Anyone remember that one? I loved it!

Here's a link to it.

OK, now I gotta get Rebel Strike; OT footage and the original SW arcade game are too hard to pass up.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I'm thinking about buying an entire GameCube just for that. Finally have the justification. And I might get the classic Metroid collection.

My wife is going to kill me; are they hidden as easter eggs, or how do you access them?

You can either get all of the gold/platinum medals for the missions or use cheats like I did

You put in these cheats and you are taken to a normal Star Destroyer hanger with the Imperial March playing in the background. You see arcade cabinets in the middle of it. When you walk towards the cabinets all of a sudden Death Star disco ball comes down and the Meco version of the Star Wars theme starts playing.
