I took the poster and retouched it to this:

And created this disc art.

(REVISED WITH BETTER MEDIA 10/30/05)

Not great, but it'll do. Note that the teaser "Vader" poster is snuck in there.

Here's the big version for printing.

That is cool... I will need something nice and High Res though... I will do a little searching if time permits. I will post the red Vader and others a bit later in the week, hopefully. My fun cover time is a direct result of being slow here at work. Now I have some projects that will be taking all of my time for now. I hate to leave you guys hanging.... I'd hate to clog up grisians upload section with a bunch of half hearted covers not quite completed. Sorry dudes... work calls! High Res covers are coming... just not as soon as i would have hoped. Peace!

Hope I don't sound nagging, but.... are those two original music transitions part of the final product?

Thanks

Trust me, the single layer version is perfect. The files do not take up enough disc space to make a dual layer version necessary in any way.

The build files exist and you can specifically request that I burn the VOB files onto two DVDs, for you to burn your own dual layer copy. However, this is unnecessary and not necessarily recommended.

I know that you, segaflip, will be posting this on the newsgroups or whatever, so the dual layer version might be fun to post there, but yeah, it's not necessary in the least.

I don't want people coming to me asking for a dual layer version.

Will you be pre-printing the disc label as you did with Deleted Magic?

Some have asked what the text on the back of the covers ought to be. Well, here goes - my blurb for the film I guess.

The original version of The Empire Strikes Back. Not the way it was, but the way you remember it.

Relive the original version of one of the greatest science fiction/fantasy films ever made, with this faithful reproduction of the original release of The Empire Strikes Back.

It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Although the Death Star has been destroyed, Imperial troops have driven the Rebel forces from their hidden base and pursued them across the galaxy. Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker has established a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth. The evil lord Darth Vader, obsessed with finding young Skywalker, has dispatched thousands of remote probes into the far reaches of space...

The Empire Strikes Back is not just a sequel to Star Wars. It goes beyond the original and in many ways surpasses it.

Using video from official DVD and laserdisc sources, the 1980 theatrical version of the film has been reproduced in pristine DVD quality, equal to the 2004 DVD release. CGI Special Edition elements have been eliminated, and a new soundtrack has been created for this disc, based on the 35mm mix heard on the 1993 Definitive Collection laserdisc, but reinstating some lines and music cues from the 70mm version as heard in more recent releases.

Relive the magic with one of the greatest science fiction/fantasy films ever made, the way you remember it. From the editor that brought you Deleted Magic.

Features:

Isolated Score by John Williams

16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen

Dolby Digital Sound

Yes, and no. One of the interesting things about both the classic Star Wars and the classic Empire is that they combine several versions of the film into the "definitive" theatrical presentation.

With the Star Wars one, would you want the mono mix or the stereo mix? Of course you'd want elements of both, so those were combined.

With the Empire one, would you want the 35mm mix or the 70mm mix? Of course you'd want elements of both, so those were combined.

The most "memorable" elements of several versions have been combined into the best version of the film that people can recognize as the original theatrical version ... when in truth of course it's taken a lot of work to create something that looks effortless!

And of course in addition you get a nice recent transfer of the picture.

It really is "how you remember it!"

Anyway.

The disc art I posted earlier for Empire, well, I used it and it looks awful. The picture I used to make it was just too low resolution and quite nasty. I've made some tweaks to it, and out of desperation applied a drybrush filter. It still doesn't look much better, so I'd REALLY like a higher quality version of that poster ....

Holy christ, dude, the wooden one is nice. Any chance you can do ones like those for ESB and ROTJ? I know there aren't posters that lend themselves to it as easily, but maybe you could fudge something together.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

hey coov great cover art where can they be downloaded. I like the circus poster one with the wraparound wood thing in the background really cool for star wars classic edition, and the vader with the red saber is friggin awesome!

hey ocpmovie keep the great projects coming man, thanks this dvd rules! can't wait for classic edition return of the jedi. Any chance on a deleted magic strikes back, or return of deleted magic? and when you do return of the jedi is there any way you can put an alternate title crawl recreation for revenge of the jedi?

also can't wait for moth3r return of the jedi/ or would'nt that be reinventing the wheel since i'm ntsc.

what the best software for the pc to watch both ntsc and pal or reauthor pal in ntsc?

as for televisions and dvd players/ converters for pal any knowledge would be appreciated.

I think when ROtJ comes, he'll do best with either Moth3r or Citizen's Jedi not Reinventing The Wheel.
RtW, although the same as Mother's, has been re-encoded, resized, color enhanced and then pulleddown to 29.97 fps.
Moth3r's is a more raw version of the same video with more lines of resolution. Much better for editing. OCP will need to re-encode those frames and probably apply a different color balance when he uses them.
It's just better to go to the source... assuming I even do a RtW RotJ. Between Classic Edition and Citizen, I'm not sure it's needed. Not to say it might not be done for completeness sake.
