Thanks HotRod. Sorry Jimbo, I'm not interested in buying them. I just want to see how many goofs are still present in Lucas' supposed vision of how the films were meant to be. This is a separate list from the audio issues introduced by the new DVD's.

So far I know of these goofs still left in:
ANH: Lightsaber is green in one sequence.
ESB: Needa's shuttle is still a box
ROTJ: Emperor still has blobs on sides of hood.

HotRod,

Do you know if the X-Wings in ANH have also been fixed? In the Original Version, all of them had markings to signify that one was Red 5, one was Red 2, and so on. In the '97 version, they used the same CGI model, so all of them are the same (I forget which one though).

Thanks.

Patrick

Needa's shuttle isn't, nor was a box. Look closer at it. It's a TIE transport. a modified TIE Bomber. TIE Shuttle

Well it was always there by the very same rationale you yourself used to justify the inclusion of the Jabba Docking Bay 94 scene.

Lucas filmed it, it exists. It exists therefore it is canon.

"Filmed = Canon"

Right Jimbo?

Not saying I agree with that but that was YOUR reason for the inclusion of Jabba into Episode IV.

Gotcha!

The Hans girl was deleted for story reasons. The Jabba scene was cut for effects reasons.

Hi,

Han's girl was Jenny. Han and Jenny were viewing Ben slashing away with the lightsaber in the cantina. Han and Jenny have a kiss. You can view the clip at T'Bone's Star Wars site.

I find it interesting that GL says that he's finally released the versions he always envisioned. So, uh, did he envision Hayden Christensen at the end of ROTJ back in 1983? Damn, we all talk about how GL had foresight, but this is on a whole new level.

Keep in mind, Lucas claimed the 97 versions were what he always wanted. By that reasoning, the 2004 version shouldn't exist. I respect the guy, by he changes his mind more than I do, and I'm a Gemini. Jimbo, thank you once again for missing the point of my posts.

I doubt Han's 'girlfriend' Jenny was a cut storyline, I think Hans a bit of ladies man with a girl in every port, I don't think it was ever intended to be more than a fleeting bit of flirting.

As do I, I'm merely stating that he changes his mind often, don't believe everything he states as fact.

A younger Anakin would have made more sense but putting a young actor there would have just confused people.

Yeah Jimbo, inserting a younger Anakin would have made more sense... in your warped little universe where if Lucas digitally replaced Chewie with Jar Jar in the OT, you and your freaky little fanboys would conjure up some bizarre and illogical reason why it makes sense.

Jesus H Jimbo, do you not have a thought process that isn't controlled by Lucas?

If you think about it it really does. A force ghost is suppose to take your last true form. Anakin never looked like that. As Shaw he never had hair or limbs. Logically his ghost should had no limbs and no hair. Plus Obi-wan said the good man who was your father was destroyed. Anakin Skywalker died when he became Vader.

I noticed another change on the DVDs.

After the stormtroopers exit the Falcon on the Death Star, one now says "There's no one here."

Y'know, in case you couldn't tell that already.

Truth is I don't really like this change. While in some ways in makes more sense it just was better in its original form. It just was a better scene with Shaw there. Not everything has to make sense. Though I do understand why the change was made.

Hi,
Anakin may have "died" when he allowed the Vader persona to be dominant, but the Anakin persona resurfaced and was fully reborn with the sheer act saving Luke and self-sacrifice, thus allowing the Anakin persona to be the dominant side once again. Plus it's apparent that Ben was not entirely correct about the Anakin persona being destroyed; it was an strong assumption on Ben's part. And Ben has been incorrect on several occasions; as Ben would put it, "from a certain point of view". It's clear throughout the latter half of ROTJ that Vader was going through an inner struggle regarding Luke.

Logically, the last image Luke saw was the face of an older Anakin (Anakin reborn at this point). Logic applies only in the natural sense and does not apply in the supernatural realm. That which is flesh is flesh; that which is spirit is spirit. Anakin, appearing to Luke in the natural will not retain the exact same physical attributes as Anakin/Vader had last appeared in the natural (e.g. scars, no limbs, hair, etc.), but the true representation of Anakin's spirit is retained; thus Anakin reborn. A familiar spirit will also appear to an individual in a form that would be recognizable. Hayden's image contradicts this; Luke has never seen an image of the Anakin persona in his youth; the last image of Anakin was the elder. Case in point:

1. The spirit of Samuel the prophet appeared to King Saul. Saul, with his natural senses obviously recognized this spirit was Samuel.

2. Jesus, badly beaten, crucified and dies. Jesus reappears to Mary and the disciples and is recognized.

Don't mean to bring the Bible into this, but I am using these as illustrations. Lucas' explanation of the younger Anakin in spirit just doesn't fly.

Finally, his opinion on something. People can try to justify the change until the cows come home. What they can't explain is why he looks so pissed off. He's glaring at Luke and Leia. Also, could we please stop suggesting that Vader is undead? It takes all of the emotion out of his struggle with Luke, and his redemption. If Lucas makes he literally dead at the end of III, it will destroy a huge part of the Star Wars' story and impact.

Jimbo's opinion was still pro-Lucas. Sorta like this:

Well, the change was kinda lame, I like the original version, the new one's alright...but it's Lucas' movie so I understand why he changed it.

Time
True, but that's an considerable improvement over what he's said lately.
