I watched the A New Hope DVD and noticed no audio problem. These discs sound excellent.

Well, I am using 5.1 EX setup...and it can't be much better than mine. The audio quality during the film varies substantially depending on the channel being used, but for the most part it seems like a complete fuck up. For instance, you can hear Han talking to Leia on the Falcon and it'll sound crystal clear (incredible quality) and then it'll sound all muffled and like it's coming from an old ass record player or something. I had to listen to it off the tv it was so distracting. However, the other films sound fine.

6 2003 Bose speakers. 600 wat DTS 6.1 ES reciever. Its a very good sound system and I always listen to detail but did not hear a single problem. These discs look and sound alot better then films this old should. A great job by Lucasfilm.

Not that I'm speaking from experience as we all know I'm not buying the set, but I'm surprised, considering the state of your system, that you can't hear it, Jimbo. Everybody else seems to be able to detect it no problem. Weird.

... or an like an "L" for Lucas.

As for myself, when I first heard the rumours about the Anakin gjost thing I said to myself that I would wait a couple of days after the DVDs were out, check on the internet if that was true and it it was I wouldn't buy 'em.
Sadly, that was the case. It's really too bad becuase I really want them to have on DVD (better quality, cool cases, bonus disc...), even if they were SE, but that's too much.

George PLEASE release the OT so that I can give you my money and make you even richer!!!

Jimbo, is it possible that you do hear the problems, but being the "devotee" you are, selectively not hear them? I mean that seriously. One can be so obsessed with something as to ignore its flaws to the point of non-existence. Just a shot in the dark.

Even with such a good sound system, most people wouldn't notice the problem, and since Jimbo here really doesn't want to, it sounds good to him. Well, at least he's pleased with the DVDs.

Oh, and Jimbo, I owe you an apologise, I remember clearly how you insisted that the insafmous AICN screenshot showing Hayden as Anakin on ROTJ was real, and I insisted it was not. I remember that 4 or 5 months ago I was absolutely sure that no more changes would be made on the trilogy, and you were sure that there were going to be some more changes. Well, I was wrong, and you were right. Now I know GL can still surprise me with his asshole ways...

Can you accept an apology without getting a big head about it?

I just love how I was so insistant about it. I said there will be changes. I stated this as fact. People kept saying jimbo you don't know anything. You shouldn't assume them as fact. I am now going to insist that in 2007 there will be more changes. People will again deny me but I will be right again. I am hoping for an ewok genocide.

Leave the goddamn Ewoks alone. They're better than anything that has come out of your precious prequels. Said prequels have ruined the end of Return Of The Jedi. I came to accept the Yanni-sounding shit-ass music that replaced the Yub Yub music...now I have to look at fucking Gungans cheering and Anakin looking like a complete jackass next to REAL Jedi. Goddamn you.

On the phone with my pops today. He said he took me to ROTJ when I was young, I don't remember. The point is, however, that we were talking about the new DVDs. I asked him if he was going to get them, he said probably not. We started talking about the changes....It amazed me how much he knew. I felt so proud.

This whole thing reminds me how in Orwell's 1984, they keep removing words from the Dictionary, in effect erasing them from history. Words were combined or shortened and slowly the words in the language grew fewer and fewer.

People will not sit idlely by and watch memories, and history fade away at the hands of one small minded man.

If I were able to ask Lucas one question, it would be this: "what harm is done to you by releasing the very movies, in their original theatrical presentation, that made you the wealth you have today?"

Also, can we get a copy without James Earl Jones' vader voice over? I dont know what that actor's name was, but he got screwed big time.

Not a Gun gun fan but I will take frog men over teddy bears anyday. The gun gun fight may have been gooffy but it makes alot more sense. The gun guns had several advanced energy weapons and shields. Droids are alot less efficient then stormtroopers. Even then many gun guns die and they lost the battle until the ship was destroyed. The ewoks have no advanced technology. They also suck as warriors and constantly faulter. Despite this they defeat a huge army of stormtroopers with only a few of them died. It made the clones look like pussies. "Oh my God 3 foot teddy bears with sticks lets ignore our years of military training and advanced weapons and fall down" They also bring down a walker with logs. Too bad none of the rebals on Hoth didn't have logs it would have probably saved there bases from the walkers that advanced laser canons couldn't take down. The Empire is powerful enough to rule the galaxy but can't seem to build a targetting system that can hit a bear running at ten miles per hour. Ever hear of infared. Return of the Jedi is the only Star Wars flick where the odds don't make sense.

Whatever. I had no problem believing the Ewoks could take out the ground troops. They'd proven time and time again they sucked at everything. Look at all the shit they did: the logs were ingenious. And you clown have you forgotten how the rebels took out the walkers on Hoth?? They used friggin tow cables and tripped them. The Ewoks did more with logs then just trip the AT-STs. They sent them flying at the cabins, remember? Friggin ingenious. And tangling up the Speeder Bikes with rope... it showed that primitive creatures (by your definition) could take out the "advanced" forces. I always loved that lesson...

The Gungans on the other hand showed that creatures could have advanced technology and still suck.

So sad that you preach the word of Lucas, yet don't understand his teachings. The fact that the Ewoks were primative was the freaking point. Lucas has constently stated that he wanted the battle to be a triumpth of nature over machine. Also, whether you wound up right or wrong doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't base fact on a rumour, no matter how reputable the site it's on is. Rick McCallum answered a question on the Hayden change with, "I don't even know where that comes from." The point is, no matter how good the source, it doesn't make it an irrefutable fact. It certainly doesn't give you the right to be a gloating ass when someone more magnanimous than you apoligizes either.

Also, not all stoormies are clones. The early ones sure, but after Palpatine took power, he instituted a draft. The idea that every troop in the Imperial army is a mindless clone is far stupider than "teddy bears" beating them.

Well, if you believe this, how do you explain the U.S. getting its ass kicked in Iraq? Hmm....The whole point was that the Empire was spread too thinly, and the rebel fighters prevailed, in that battle. The movie is totally fine with Ewoks. In fact I love the Ewoks, so cute, but smart. But i tell you what, there were boos when the credits rolled after Episode One...I bet nobody booed ROTJ....
I prefer to think of the last three films as an after thought. They are simply a mess for the average movie-goer. Thats probably why the reviews were so bad, b/c as movies they were bad. Episode Two was much better than E1, but IMO, almost every actor feels inappropriately cast. Lucas would have been much better served to use lesser known actors, who could actually act. Sorry guys but Samuel L. Jackson is not a Jedi, he's the angry black guy from Die Hard 4. Using bland name-brand actors was the biggest mistake ever. Natalie Portman has a big ass, and was pretty bad in E1. There i said it.

I too have a lot of time for the Ewoks, I had an Ewok saver account in 1983 (neeeerrrrrrd). They're cute and they represent primitive knowhow battling superior technology and prevailing through sheer will and ingenuity. To see how far Lucas has strayed from his original points he once equated the Empire to the invading US in the Vietnam conflict, which would make the Ewoks and the rebels Charlie. But then this is a galaxy far, far away...

I agree that the PT films are an afterthought but I think it's a bit like this: The OT is the child and the PT is the afterbirth which Lucas is blindly holding up and praising while we all look on in horror and disgust.

"The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Goering.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." - Goebbels.

"In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act." - Orwell.
