I know she’s in stable condition but there’s no logical reason such a thing should happen to someone like her.

I mean there’s the heavy heavy drug abuse in her past.

This year sucks.

Just saw this news… I hope she is fine. Like you lot said what a bad year for losing great celebrities irreplaceable ones.

I hope it does not come to pass.

Sadly, it seems that is not the case:

He also addressed an earlier comment attributed to him, in which he was alleged to have said his sister was in “stable condition.”

“I don’t know where they got that word from. That is absolutely not even close to the truth. We don’t know. We hope for the best. We certainly do not know her condition, that’s why she is in ICU. I’m sure everyone wants to speculate but now is not the time for that.”

Heard this just now on the radio in the UK

Come on Carrie pull through. My thoughts are with you.

Stay with us, Carrie. It’s not your time.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

She is a fighter for sure. All my hopes to Carrie and her family, friends, fans, and her dog Gary.

This sucks, Good luck, Carrie! Just watched my Dad go through this about a year ago. It is not fun.

She was a heavy cocaine user for years, that plays hell on the heart. Coke was why she looked gaunt and so skinny in ROTJ.

Nonetheless, prayers for her and I hope she pulls through successfully.

If she had surgery, ICU and breathing assistance is common for 24 hours. Oxygen for 2 days, especially if emergency surgery. I had a Family member go through this. They want the heart to not have to work as hard as it recovers. Plus, worry of infections.

But there’s no indication she had surgery. I’m thinking they would have mentioned if she had.

Well, in the case of my father, who had “the widowmaker”, they waited a week to do surgery.

But was he in ICU after a heart attack? I mean…we don’t even know if she’s awake. She’s on a ventilator.

Haseo was saying “there’s no logical reason such a thing should happen to someone like her” and I felt like her drug abuse was a pretty logical reason.

My response was dripping with sarcasm. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

I know but it sucks that could have bounced back and hit her this late in her life. That’s like talking to some dude’s sister and 30 years later he randomly beats the shit out of you for it. It’s just not fair.

IIRC, Leonard Nimoy quit smoking back in the '80s, but it still ended up doing him in three decades later.

Substance abuse can be a vindictive bitch even long after you’ve left it behind.

I got it and assumed you were joking along, but then Ferris chimed in and I was suddenly unsure if my post was clear or not, so I figured it was safest to make sure I was getting it across.

It does suck. Some of the stuff she was into leaves indelible, permanent scars, though. Not sure it was so much a “bounce back” as it was a cumulative effect over time. Plus when you throw age in, all bets are off.

And the weight loss/gain. Seems like that can’t help matters.

Right, that’s it… no more Christmas, ever. Chances of Carrie’s death now are far too high.

Yes he was, for about a month. His heart had to be restarted four times, I think. He was not conscious for a couple days and still doesn’t remember the first two weeks or so afterward. Anyway, my prayers are with Carrie Fisher and her family, as they are with my own Dad. So happy he’s with us for Christmas this year.
