Build the Millennium Falcon - New magazine

Author

So DeAgostini have started a new magazine collection where, each week, you get parts to build a studio scale replica of the Millennium Falcon. It's going to be 1:1 scale with the studio 32" version that was used in ESB. But with over 100 issued, that's going to cost over £900 to build this bad boy. Plus, the photos it shows of the finished model it even  admits was finished off my a professional model maker, so i wonder what the un-modded version will end up looking like?

It seems a shame that they are going to include all the interiors, yet it doesn't look like the boarding ramp can be opened or that the landing gears are going to be included.

DeAgostini is a damn ripoff firm. They just did the SW chess set where you had to collect 32 numbers to get the whole game which made the game a 500€ set. Ridicilous. There've been others too, like the solar system set etc. Then by missing even one number you got screwed. Ugh.

And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.

But those don't even fit inside the exterior, as I understand it.

Well, not exactly. The live action interior set pieces do not fit inside the live action exterior set piece (specifically the one built for ESB i believe) because the exterior set was built at the incorrect scale and is actually much too small.

Something about a mix up with the plans and that the interiors were built in one location while the exterior was built in another.

Seems like those sort of mix-ups happen a lot...

Now I want a Spinal Tap song about the Falcon.

I saw this issue in the shop today. The panel included is pre-painted and weathered but the quad laser canon is unpainted. The picture on the back of the card looks fantastic but that even shows a close up of the canon painted and wethered. Looks like there may be quite a bit of extra work to do yourself.

I came away without it, but I am still really tempted.

It happens a number of times in the same film.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

Some comparison images starting to pop up between it (left) and the MR one (right)

Not so sure about this Falcon now, the details are very soft

I did notice the missing colours on the turret from the earlier shots (Maybe you get paints for those later). There are different Falcon minatures though from film to film so it may not be inacurate but there are probably people here who know more about that than I (As I just did the classic AMT/ERTL kit as a kid and that was way off).

Does this include instructions on how to build a frame for the thing, so all the pieces will have something to go on?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I must confess when I read 1:1 I thought Ady meant they would send you a full-sized ship bit by bit in the post which wouldn't be bad for nearly a grand :-D
